He has to say this sort of thing to keep his franchisees happy. They are the ones paying the big dollars for his brand. Anyone with half a brain would avoid HN unless they had a spectacular deal, which are very few and far between.
You only have to look at the appalling after sales service and warranty returns to see there is no benefit to shopping there beyond viewing the physical product before you purchase.
HN's time is coming to end, the only real question is when.
I hate HN but i feel for the staff (even though 90% of them are useless)
If HN falls over, and it seems that eventually it will… the amount of people out of work would be huge.
HN fall over?
Not gonna happen, esp given they are the only Aus retailers that own their own property.
Besides that, even though HN isn't popular with nerds/geeks, everyone else shops at them, including most of my family and friends.
SPot on. I believe most of them are devoted Alan Jones and Ray Hadlee listeners as well.
This key demographic of HN customers are getting older. Common sense says they are not going to keep the brand afloat after the inevitable.

Good. Maybe they can get into a field they're better at. Toilet cleaning perhaps.
guess there is alot of people with less than half a brain in Aus
Hahaha, last few whitegoods purchases I made were from online retailers. I mean what is there to see, they are white, the site gives you the dimensions and other specs, and for user experiences you read reviews and figure out which ones to trust. You don't get user feedback in a HN store anyway, only a sales critter eager to sell you add-ons you don't need.
GH is entertaining though in small amounts.
I rather buy grey imports from stores such as Kogan than to deal with HN nonsense.

I like his comment that people like to see / feel a product before buying.
What that means to me is that I go to his store to choose what I want, then order it online for stacks cheaper. It's good of him to provide such a service for us professionals!
When he was worried about going broke - http://m.smh.com.au/business/blue-skies-ahead-as-clouds-part… - he probably didn't consider that…
I find this article funny.
Everyone i know buys their whitegoods online mainly from appliances online
Hardley Normal is a ripp off and they offer zero service
