  Yeah, mine went up by 25% too. I sent a long email to head office asking them to explain their reasoning. They explained that they were putting every member on the same base rate and then discounting it depending on the years of membership. Apparently they are addressing all membership over the next year or so. I think if you threatened to quit if you didn't get a better rate they would let you quit. No harm in trying. Would love to know the outcome.

    damn that sucks, did you manage to get them lowered then?
    iv actually been really happy with them over the past few years, I'm on the platinum one atm.
    Think i might call up to cancel, haha and hopefully get them to retain me!

  mines had a similar increase

  however my local fitness first gym has a new rate
  single gym membership rates
  7 bucks a week
  but can only use my gym
  and sign a new 18 months contract
  ad no classes

  one with classes is like 10 bucks
  not sure how they check if you go to classes

  not that I go to classes and I only go to one gym so it works out for me

    which fitness first is that? those rates are really cheap. mmm i like the convenience of going to whichever one i want, but if its only $7/week… haha not sure how they would enforce that either, not that iv ever been to a class…

  rockdale prolly introduced this deal though cause a anytime fitness open across the road, crunch 2 minutes away and 24/7 fitness across the road too!
  and about 10 crossfit setups lolz

    oh wow thats insane! my club is really expensive for some reason..$36 just for that one club !!

  For anyone following up on this, called them up today, they only offered to reduce my membership from Platinum ($40.50) to passport ($39~). Yeah they pretty much are happy to let their customers go which sucks
