Fridge Recomendations

Hi All,

In the market to update my current Fridge, Top Mount, 223L Capacity SR223NME
http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/home-appliances/refrigera…

I've been looking at the Panasonic NR-BY552XSAU 554L Bottom Mount Fridge
http://www.panasonic.com.au/Products/Refrigerators/Refrigera…

I'm keen to get something that is eco to run, I currently have 4 people including myself living in my house, and we are finding the fridge runs out of space with our current setup, once you add a 3ltr juice and 3ltr milk the door shelf is full! so in the market to update to a fridge larger :)

I'm looking in the $1,200 ~ $1,400 price range,

Space I can work with 900mm wide / 690mm length / no above cupboards so no limits there.

:)

  • Not that you have to buy it from there but head over to appliancesonline.com.au and change the fridge settings to suit you needs and see what they throw up as options.

I just picked up a Westinghouse 430L WBM4300WBLH freezer on the bottom, from TGG's for $986 delivered and they carted my old beer fridge away.
I was pretty restricted in what size I could buy.

I learnt that Electrolux/Westinghouse/Kelvinator are pretty much made in Australia, depending on size. They are also ranked in that order for price and options.

The old 4 star fridge is a 2.5star on the new rating system afaik.
You might struggle to find a fridge the size you want and 4star for that budget.
    But you never know.

Edit: I see HN had your fridge on sale for $1370 during one of its half yearly sales last year.

  • +1

I got one of these babies (or a slightly older model).

Cost about $1200 from the good guys.

They make a bit of a racket when the compressor fires up, but works well and is cheap to run. I've had groceries worth a week and a half (family of 4), and 2 cases of beer without it being too crazy full.

My only negative about the bottom-mount units are my kids quickly figured out where the icecreams were stored, and that they could reach them…

    • +1 for kids access to bottom-mount units = pain

  • If you get to view the fridge in person, take a close look at the seals. (Give them a tug.) We purchased a Westinghouse, and the seals were so thin they tore in the first month.

  • I've heard good things about the Panasonic one and was going to get one myself.. Too bad it doesnt fit in my fridge area. Too bad that the HN cashback deal is over, you couldve gotten 10% cash back. I think the unit is $1599
