    if someone can help me - i'm a bit confused.
    I run a small business and need the following:
    a website: www.mycompanyname.com.au
    about 3-5 email addresses: eg. [email protected] - preferably web-based so I can access on any computer anywhere

    Can someone tell me what i need. i know i need a domain name (say $20/yr). What does "hosting" do? do i need that too?
    what else would i need?

      You can get a domain name (a .com.au) from COVE themselves for less than $20/year.

      Then you get a web hosting plan for your website. Web hosting plans usually come with email hosting as well so you can choose to use them for your emails. For COVE Everyday plan starts at ~$4/month after the discount, or Business plans at $10/month after the discount.

      For me I'll just use Google Apps for email…

          Sorry about the late reply :)

          If you just want email — get a domain, find some DNS provider for you to park your domain (not sure whether COVE does that, but there are free ones like EveryDNS and EditDNS), point the MX entries to Google Apps. Done. $20/2 years and you have [email protected] :)
