30

Found this one in Costco. Compared the prices and this one is the cheapest by almost 700$ when compared to Harvey Norman and cheaper than the ones with i5 processor in some of the shops.

Harvey Norman - i7 - 13.3" - 2399$

JB Hifi - i5 - 13.3" - 1998$

Dicksmith - i5 - 11.6" - 1599$

    Also, it's actually $1680, not $1679…

    • Edited. :)

  • Wow, I'm guessing the monitor of this thing rotates 180degrees

    • Doesn't have to; it has two screens.

Doesn't rotate, there are actually two display screens.

Bonus mini review - both screens are 1080p IPS displays, one is touch (outer one), looks amazing and is thinner than what you think for dual display. Has extremely disappointing battery life, both screens on full brightness, back one watching a movie, main one doing work, expect 3 hours max.

why would you run both screens at the same time?

Lots of uses, mainly (from what I've read) people use it for business presentations. I use to prop the body up a bit so my little sister can watch a movie/youtube on one end with headphones and I can do homework on the other.

          heres what i do

my kid uses their own laptop and tablet

makes it easy to haves kids and adult stuff seperated

          strange concept i know

there aren't LOTS of reasons… there's a few specific ones where it may be useful but its a solution looking for a problem

        • business presentation on a 13" screen? might as well use your phone and get cozy

        • so, are the different screens separated system or do they utilize the same system?
still sounds like a very bad idea

        • what kind of adult stuff?

        • And you could buy 2/3 decent spec laptops for same price

  • Sorry, am i missing something, why would you want a laptop with 2 screens back to back ..

    • Surprisingly good for students, put it in tablet mode during math lectures and you can draw equations on pdfs with a stylus. For other subjects and homework you can open it up and type notes

      • a student better off getting a samsung note tablet, worth the bucks you spend ;). I used all types of computers included the Taichi one, the battery is only fair enough for around 2.5 hrs

        • I agree, I ended up selling my taichi for a tablet (Sony Xperia tablet Z). I wasn't a fan of the Samsungs 1280x800 display, I bought an active stylus which admittedly isn't as good as the Samsungs one, but it does the job.

        • What apps do you use for taking notes? I'm use to my tablet laptop tx2500z and use onenote but she is showing her age.

        • Sorry to go off on a tangent, but what active stylus do you have? I'm interested in getting one for my Xperia Tablet Z.

      It's great for playing Battleship…

  • or to show your client sitting opposite you on a table?

  • very tempting…….but I'll wait till they update to new haswell cpu

Why not make it 4 screens, there you have it a Quad core / Quad screen add 4 Keyboards.
4 People sitting on each others laps at work, save heaps on office space.

  • Was very keen on the 13.3" Tiachi but since learning aboutbattery life and reading about hte new Samsung ATIV Book 9 PLUS with its huge battery life and qHD screen, im waiting for that to hit the Costco shelves!
