Invalid IMEI on MTK 6589 iNew i4000 phone from BuyInCoins

Good Day!
I bought i4000 from that 9% off special from buyincoins.
Purchased on 22.07.13, dispatched on 25th and I got it yesterday 13.08.13.
Everything is good, brand new package and contents(although charger with European plug). Screen cover, 2 batteries and a second cover like case to use with thicker battery.
Screen is awesome! No lag and plain Android.
But "Invalid IMEI" and it does not read any SIM card I put in.(can not connect to network)
I found some .apk to try and rewrite IMEIs(it has 2 SIM card slots = 2 IMEIs) but no luck.
That's the phone

Tried this but did nothing

So if anyone know a good way to do this please share your experience.

Thank you
All the Best

Have you tried contacting the company? That would seem the best place to start.

    WOW found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW5lSVeMC4g
    And it worked!

  • So yeah I can confirm that it works with Optus 3G here in Sydney Maroubra.

So you purchased and imported a mobile phone that is unsafe, not certified, an illegal import, and which must not be used on our Australian networks (carriers).

It had fake/false IMEI numbers because the manufacturer did not want to pay for genuine IMEI numbers.

Presumably it now has other fake/false IMEI numbers.

When Australia finally 'clamps-down' on these mobile handsets (as India did - mainly because of the security risk) and makes our carriers ban them on their networks, you will have a useless phone.

wow man easy on the retarded comments…
They flashed the handset and did not put in the new IMEIs. It comes with IMEIs stickers and after I enter them in the phone works perfectly.

Rather rude of you. Are you claiming that my comment "So you purchased and imported a mobile phone that is unsafe, not certified, an illegal import, and which must not be used on our Australian networks (carriers)." Is "retarded?

They flashed the handset and did not put in the new IMEIs. It comes with IMEIs stickers and after I enter them in the phone works perfectly.

'They' (if not a reputable Chinese manufacturer of mobile phones) use fake/duplicated IMEI numbers on the "stickers".

Have you checked the IMEI numbers that are on the stickers?

There are several websites with similar services, but give this one a try ->

Ok mate you need to calm down.
China makes like 90% of all electronic goods.
Apple is a reputable brand? Made in China
Meizu, Xiaomi, Umi, Oppo etc not reputable brands? Where? In Sydney? Reputable in China.
And safe and certified and legal to import and can be used on our Australian networks(carriers).
"They" are reputable by millions of people not only in China.
Read this website for a bit to get a clue http://www.gizchina.com/category/news/
And this is about my phones manufacturer http://www.inewphone.com/eng/about.asp

Anyway I do not want to go into holywar. If you are a minority it does not mean you know better.

        Smerch,
Mind if I ask how you find the iNew phones? I was looking at this one:
        http://www.1949deal.com/inew-i7000-android-smart-phone-mtk65…

Which seems to indicate it will work quite nicely with the Optus network (even rurally), just wondering your experience with them, as I have zero experience with China phones, but they're getting hard to pass up at these prices…

I looked at all phones on buyincoins when they had 9% off storewide. And I liked inew i4000 because it has 2 batteries 1750 and 2500, comes with a case like cover and specs are pretty good too. Build quality is decent, everything works perfectly. With 2500mAh battery it holds charge for 2 days easy with mobile internet and music playing.

Although always read/watch reviews before buying any phone and make sure it will work with your carrier in your area.

That i7000 from your link is ok but the screen is not Full HD.

Look I know the point you maybe like to make, but really this is a very spurious attempt, why not go even further, since all products are made on planet earth, they are all made equal.

Chinese phones can vary in quality depending on the factory etc. What A3 was saying was cheap phones arent made well. Maybe they should have rephrased it better, but falling into the same trap doesnt make your point.

It can actually make one question if you really do understand the issues and can discern the differences.

Like what makes a brand reputable here or in China.

        • "very spurious attempt"
          What is your point?
If you agree then good for you.
If you do not agree with facts then I do not care.
