Hi all,
Using a standard cheapo canon printer but the ink cartidges last no time at all.
I am looking for a reliable and cheap laser printer where ink isn't really pricey.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I recently purchased a Brother HL-2130. Dirt cheap and so far it's been brilliant. There's cheap toner on ebay too apparently. Youtube has videos showing how to get extra life out of the toner cartridge by covering a sensor with tape. (Search old threads for "Brother laser" to find the links.)
Edit: Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Officeworks, and Dick Smith all have it. Probably everywhere else does too.
I have a hl2170w laser for cheap b&w and a brother dcp j315w inkjet for colour printing and scanning.
Both printers are wireless and cheap to buy and I haven't had any issues with either.
I buy non-genuine inks from inkstation.com.au, heaps cheaper than genuine and just as good.
I agree with realfamilyman.
Dick Smith is selling it for $44. Highly recommend it.

any comments on this one as I also want a printer, but would prefer wireless http://www.dicksmith.com.au/multifunction-printers/hp-deskje…
Well, that's a bubble-jet so avoid -really expensive to print stuff!
Thanks for all the help guys! Much appreciated!
got the DocuPrint M205 fw (fuji xerox) wireless multifunction mono printer.
works great as long as it's set close to the router. theres an etherenet option too and usb if thats your thing too. the wifi probably only sucks because of all the shit in between it, a storage room for one.
only other downside is if your gonna use the auto document feeder to make copys for like 1-2 hours it overheats but thats not to much of an issue. Cheap double filled toner carts with no brand on ebay from at 6.99$ brand names at $100. printer costs 199$ at office works but seems a good one if you need copying/scanning/faxing as well as wireless printing. oh also you don't need to do anything to get the knock off carts working just plug it in.
I suggest the Brother HL series, Officeworks has the full range.
