Hi everyone, the battery has died in my Acer 5560 laptop and was just wondering where you guys think the best place to get a replacement is?
There are some on ebay that look different to the original one, so not sure if they are suitable :/
Should I just go through the acer website and get a legit one?

I've had good experiences with ebay Non-OEM batteries.
Since they cost 1/3 or less of the OEM price it is worth a punt.
Me too, look for the ones with 2 and 3 year warranties.

I've heard people say Amazon is pretty good. Maybe $20 is worth 10 months of battery life :P
Amazon is only distributor, and depending on who is the vendor they may or may not ship to Australia. The postage costs can be quite excessive too, given the nature of the cargo.
I buy batteries for work from http://www.laptopbattery.com.au/ and they have been helpful - I usually just email them the model of laptop and they tell me what fits/works. Their online ordering system is crap tho, I usually just call or email

For Acer, they only seem to stock aftermarket batteries (with 12 month warranty) and will ship from either Sydney or Hong Kong (depending how soon you want it)…

The ones you buy from eBay are usually fakes, filled with dodgy (sometimes used and partially faulty) lithium cells.
Sometimes you might get lucky and get something that will work normally, but I'd say quite a few of them will fail within a year, if not a couple of months.
My acer netbook battery replacement from ebay (cost $20 at the time) also didn't last more than 10 months. It seemed to have decent capacity though.
