Wilson Tennis Balls $12 for Twelve Balls - Three Canisters of Four Balls - Rebel Sport

330

Who doesn't like the smell of cheap fresh balls?

Saw this deal in Rebel today. It is three cannisters which each contain four balls, so it isn't the nasty 'grab what you need' balls. They have a sign up too, so it isn't an error in the system. At this price it's perfect for tennis or throwing at people walking past.

Cheers.

      trying way too hard

Yeh really good price! Unlikely to get championship balls anywhere else for that price. I cant even buy them wholesale! Well nah i can, but its a great price for the public!

    • Paid $10 for 4 championship balls when I was on holidays at the GC earlier in the year. 12 for $12 is a good deal as long as you're going to use them!

Are Wilson's balls a better deal than Nobby's Nuts?

    • haha I always chuckle when I see the "Nibble Nobby's Nuts" on the packet lol

Just bought a pack. Is it recommended to lube my balls before use?

    • Depends if you want to use one hand to hold or both.

    • Just don't use a velcro glove.

  • i love Wilson Tennis balls!

  • Wilson Championship tennis balls are the worst balls I've ever used. Wouldn't use them even if you paid me

    • Out of curiosity, what do you recommend?

      • +1

        slazenger grasscourt

        • Hmm I've always found slazenger becomes furry and shrizzled quickly…

        • That usually only happens to me when I use a Slazenger Hardcourt Ball on the Grass Courts

      • +1

Rebel have the Head Championships in a 3 pack of 3 ball for $15. They are a much better ball. Even though they are both named "Championship" they are nothing alike, the Wilson is a cheap and nasty ball that feels more like a cricket ball where as the Head is actually a good ball that is a little bit harder than the Slazenger but it softens up quickly and holds its pressure well. Slazenger are the best ball but they are much more expensive.

I second them being crap balls with a short life. Slaz def better

      • Nah….Wilson Championship ball = Rubbish balls.

Wilson Australia Open Balls = GOOD balls

Slazenger TOP-Grade (forgot exact name) = GOOD balls, but I can definitely tell you they DO NOT LAST LONGER than the Wilson Australia Open balls. (we run through 24 cans each week of each wilson/slazenger)

(slazenger balls have degraded in it's durability over the past 10 years. It's a better ball to play with, but the durability is so bad I dont know how to comment)

    Wilsooonnnnnnn!!

  • I bought some el cheapo balls from kmart thinking "how bad can they be". Turns out thyey were absolute crap . They bounce about as well as bean bags , I assume these are quite ok for the occasional friendly ?

    • Certainly, better than just for the occasional player. Wilson is one of the top ball brands.

      • I wouldn't say they are one of the top ball brands. The only decent ball they make is the Australian Open Ball but those don't hold their pressure well and go flat quickly. In case people are wondering why I know so much about tennis balls is because I work at a tennis shop.

        • Yeah they do go flat more quickly than they should, I agree. I play very regularly, and honestly I'd still go Wilson usually, especially at that price anyway.

  • is this at all rebel sport stores?

    • It seemed like it. It was printed on a promotional poster, by no means one that looked half-arsed by the local store.

      • thanks, will check it out tomorrow

  • i would only buy the WILSON AUSTRLIA OPEN balls….as they are a much better ball than the Wilson Championship balls. (it's the 2nd grade wilson ball)

Ask the manager if you can get the Aussie open ball for the same price

    I'll give a + as it's my last name.

Try not to be silly in a tennis ball deal, tennis players are very conservative and boring people.

  • +1

Oh fantastic, my dog just ate his last tennis ball. thanks

  • mmmmm Canisters

  • No deal at my local Rebel. Still showing at $9.99 per canister.

    • Not at the 2 George St stores in Wynyard, Sydney either. Which store and state did OP goto?

      • QLD Townsville

  • Generally I get a bit of pain in my arms after 3 single sets with Wilson balls. Never had trouble with Slazenger.

However, I agree that Wilsons lasts lot longer than Slazenger. May be Wilsons are a bit tougher and that is why it last longer & has higher impact when you hit it.

    • You should then get the same 'pain' in your arm after sustained hitting with the slazenger.

  • Think the store the OP went to had the wrong ones on special. I just dropped into local Rebel store, they have the Tour Comp 4 Can, 3 for $12, normal price $4.99 each. Champ 4 Can still $9.99, as per other comments, hence the manager's override on receipt.
