CANON EOS 1000D DSLR TWIN KIT OR NIKON DSLR TWIN VR KIT

I'm not a prof photographer but I want to try shooting some nice places and I want to buy a dslr cam. I was comparing the Canon eos1000d twin kit and nikon dslr twin vr kit. The camera salesman said the nikon is of better value. But my assessment says otherwise, the canon is 7 point AF; nikon is 3 point AF, the canon is EF-S 18-55mm IS & EF-S 55-250mm IS Twin lens kit ;nikon is 18-55mm VR & 55-200mm VR Twin Lens Kit.
I'm confused I want to buy the best one so not to waste money, although both brands are good…
CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS?????

  • Hi
I have been looking at the same and similar cameras.

I assume you are looking at the D60, it doesn't have liveview which the Canon does.

They are both entry level cameras and I don't think theres much to choose between them, but I agree the Canon might be the better deal. BUT be very sure that they are image stabilised lenses.

Can you post the deal please?

  • hi,thanks for dropping by, the canon is $1999 but you can get it from paxton for $999, the nikon is 1099(fixed).

The thing is i'm just curious about the VR lens of the Nikon DSLR…

  • The Cannon never was $1999 but $999 looks good to me, if it isn't a grey import and they are both IS lenses.

VR is Nikons IS I don't know if it's better/worse/same.

Get your hands on both cameras and see if one 'grabs you'.

  • Does the Canon have IS lenses? If so, it's a great price.

  • ahh sorry, i mean the canon is $1099 $999 if discounted

  • Well this is subjected to my own opinion,
Canon is made in Japan where as Nikon is Thailand (if I have remembered it correctly)
Regarding the lenses, it really depends on what are you planning to take photographs of. An 18-55mm would normally be sufficient for everyday purposes (unless you want to zoom far distance objects then you would need the 55-250mm).
Regarding the features of IS for Canon and VR for Nikon, basically it helps you shooting images without blurring the result so it might come handy when you are shooting hand held (without using a tripod)
There is no BEST one that suits everyone so I reckon you should. Another thing, when you have decided to buy an SLR camera please do more research on photography otherwise it would be a waste because you could buy a point and shoot camera with 1/10th of the price.
