My friend and I have a similar look of the Bosch washing machine. Can't complain about it working but the rubbers that are located around the door have developed moulds within a year. It is really bad and hard to remove and Bosch refused to replace it, they say you should wipe off those rubber every time you finish washing. To replace it, I think there is an outcall fee of around $150 and I can't remember if the rubber is $100.

Have to agree - watch out for the mould. I have an older, similar looking Bosch WFO2060AU. It's been fairly reliable mechanically (had to change brushes twice), but the mould on the door seal has been a real problem. Bosch weren't very helpful either and suggested leaving the door open between washes. That wasn't possible with toddlers around at the time so we pretty much blamed that. About 2 years ago we had the door seal replaced with a genuine Bosch replacement. The door is left wide open and wiped dry between washes and now there are still mould stains appearing. None of our friends with front loaders have this problem so we put it down to being the Bosch design or the rubber they use. Just be aware of this known problem so it doesn't get out of hand.

      • I've got a much older Bosch that I bought 2nd hand about 15 years ago. Has the same mould problem but then I've never cleaned it so my fault. The mould just sits there resting quietly and doesn't get in the way. Tough machine. Was dropped during moving house. I have only had to replace the carbon brushes in the motor and the water inlet valve. About $50 combined. Both of these are easy home repairs that just needed a screw driver and a spanner. With any front loader it's also worth running it on the longest and hottest cycle with no soap every now and then. Helps to remove any build up of undissolved powder that can lead to corrosion inside the machine.

        • I've once replaced the door seal (because of a cut/leak but it also had a little mould) on my bosch front loader and also changed the bushes once as well and it's been ok. We don't do cold washes any more (false economy really if you're trying to save energy, you just mess up your machine) and kept the door open after each wash and it's been fine since.

Just as well parts are easy to come by and fairly easy to replace yourself.

  • I had a bosch and hated it from the day I took it home. It did a terrible job of cleaning, regardless of the detergent used (and no, it wasn't overloaded.)

  • I got the same washing machine but in the 6.5kg. It is brilliant and washes well in cold (I use the stain cycle). Only issue is that it can be very loud when on the 1000rpm spin, only has a cold water hose (the machine does the heating for you), and your towels come out so hard regardless what setting you use (slower spin) and how much fabric softener. Only way to get the towels soft is to not air-dry them.

Overall, it is a great machine with heaps of features but the towel thing really annoys me.

I've had mine for 3 years and no issues with the rubbers. I've cleaned them a couple of times but they are good. Maybe try a vinegar clean (Google search it for instructions).

  • I have this dryer, works fine. Reference the mould problems, I haven't seen any yet but we have only had it for 6 months. Paid $660 at GG.

It's a washer. Probably should use it as a washer.

    • How is the drying your clothes in a washing machine working out for you?
