    $89 at MSY and Netplus.

    Not a bargain.

and the netplus is not even DATA TRAVELLER 150, it is DATA TRAVELLER 100

        http://www.netplus.com.au/products-detail.asp?code=MY3&cat=M…

Look at the actual model/title. "DT150/32GB". There is no DT100 32GB model - Kingston don't make one.

MSY has it, look harder at page 3, second section: http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

EDIT As a personal aside, 10MB/s write, 20MB/s read is decent enough on a 4GB drive but on a 32GB drive it'd be a little painful. That means assuming good conditions it'd take about an hour to fill the thing. Doesn't make any difference to the value of the thing though, just if I, personally, was going to bother with a big drive I'd want a faster one.

        • there is when i checked the kingston website http://www.kingston.com/flash/DataTravelers_consumer.asp
data traveller 100, data traveller 120 etc
and the msy is it data traveller150?

          • @7up: Ah, you're right. For some reason I thought the 32GB models started with the DT120.

Just gave my local MSY (Balcatta, WA) a call - DT150.

            • @[Deactivated]: But MSY is not available to everyone in Oz - they dont ship (except from their QLD store)

Kingston do make a 32gb DT100, but the one netplus are selling is the DT150.

damnit, i just had to buy my new headphones today. hoping stock lasts until next tuesday when my stimulus should come through ;)

  • Does not support Vista ReadyBoost. I'm tempted but not sure if it's a goodie?

      According to this: http://www.dvhardware.net/review143_2_kingston_dt150.html

It's even better than the poster suggests, up to 21MB/s write speeds. However considering the various user reviews around the place which claim no better than 6MB/s, I'd take this review with a grain of salt.

My question is why would you buy one of these for close to $100 when you could just get an external drive with that much more storage for about the same price?

I know these things are tiny enough to put on your key chain, but a 320GB external USB HDD is only $119 and offers 10x the storage.. (admittedly 10x the size too). I completely understand $20 8GB flash drives, but when you're paying this much, you might as well go all out and get a portable HDD.

      very good point. +1.

    • you mentioned it yourself…USB sticks are substantially smaller and don't require any cables either. They're well suited to a keychain or whatever where a drive isn't and some would say they aren't even pocket friendly I'm sure.

I mean why would pay $2000 for a 13.1 inch laptop when they can get a more powerful 15" for the same price?

I can see myself buying a 32gb usb key if i owned an asus eee-pc or something with ssd in a limited size. but that's about it.

  • Kingston Data Traverler sux. I bought the 8GB one and it doesnt sustain high enough transfer speeds for video. Consequently, I cant watch avi's on this and my BeyonWiz.

    • serpeant, you must buy the DT150, DT400, DTHX2, DTVP, DTBB type
for higher speed, not the standard type

  • I don't think it's a bad price and represents decent value for money. Whilst not a killer bargain, you don't have to line up like at MSY. For myself, I only need 4GB :P

  • I ordered couple of these, they refused my paypal payment after a day and requested internet banking payment instead sounds very fishy.

  • at first they also refuse my payment as because my paypal is not verified, but once i get verified by paypal they sent the order and they talk about bla bla bla not verfied paypal account. and they also offered creditcard payment too
but i pay using paypal anyway

  • These 32GB seem expensive ATM but this is a good price for a name brand "speedier" unit.

I was all set on getting a "quality" 16GB Corsair Voyager GT until the May Australian PC User test results showed slow speed.

I think an EEE PC would be better suited to a SD card that you could also use in your digital camera.
Get a 16 or 32GB SD card instead.

A fast 4, 8 or 16GB USB would be better. It depends how much you are transferring but if you want to store a couple of DVD's worth, I'd go with a 160-250GB 2.5" external drive.

  • I have a standard 4Gb Kingston Datatraveler, and it's terrible… It writes at 1Mb/s (yes, ONE Megabyte/sec!). When I first bought it, I swear it was faster than that… But over time, it just slowed to a crawl. Is this normal for Kingson USB sticks?
