Where to buy cheap Golf clubs?

I've recently picked up a new hobby in golf and have got into the 'swing' of things! hahaha Dad Joke lol

Does anyone know a place in-store or online that sells cheap golf clubs?

I am a leftie which makes my choices more limited… Even though I'm a beginner I still want a decent set to last me a while…

There doesn't seem to be many deals posted on ozBargain for golf clubs either.

Thanks! :)

  • i'll recommend to rent or buy a cheap set (under 100)
make sure ur interested in the sport and can play

then get a few lessons and go to a driving range
after a few months then look into getting a set

places like golf mart and power golf are ok in value, u can try a set and get one for around 800 bucks (callaway, talyor made etc)
places like ebay and american golf sites

only bad thing is postage costs and the falling aussie dollar, also u cant be 100% they are genuine!

u can also try local golf shops in golf course, some have ok prices!

    • thanks mate, ive been playing most saturdays for the last few months. everytime i go to the course i'm borrowing clubs… so i think its time to "invest" in some lol

  • DJones has given you very good advice…

when I started, I used the cheapest used branded set i could find… $60..just so that I had something to swing with and get a feel of it..and only when I really liked the sport did I buy a brand new Callaway set… and yes, beware of some sets on ebay since there are many fakes..sometimes even the seller doesnt know it…

callawayprewoned has some very good prices for used sets and its guaranteed authentic..

    enjoy.

  • this is a good deal, and they have left handed

    • Umm shipping to Australia?

    • Probably doesn't ship to Australia either.. also it's only irons. I'm sure he needs a complete set and bag and gay club covers and a glove.

Edit - They do ship but it's around $50.

  • Buy this - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Taylormade-R11s-Set-of-Irons-Hybr…

If you buy retail you will want a decent starter set that will probably cost at least $400 and you will always be thinking if i get better clubs will my game improve? Get rid of that doubt and get an awesome set from the get go :)

The best part about buying golf sets at retail stores is they give you the putter and bag for "free". If you go this route at least make sure you get a good putter it's probably the most important club. Pitching wedge also.

  • before you spend money on golf club etc

    buy a cheap glove first
head to a driving range and rent a club and wack a few balls
if you can hit them and like it
go to the pro shop and ask about lessons
    take a few lessons
if you still like the sport
then come back, we'll find you some good deals!

    • wwhy i say this
cause i had a work friend
      wanted to play golf
he heads to golf shop first
is sold 2 putters (200 each)
buys a bag (200 bucks leather tour bag)
      driver 250
      other bits and pieces

and this is before he heads to the driving range
      go there
      cant even hit a ball
      gets a lesson
then gives up cause he doesn't have the time (has 4 kids under 6)

      wasted 1k

  • better yet, ask a friend who has an old set and borrow it…
