I have an unlocked USB wifi modem, can I use any data sim in it, even those designed for iPad (with an adapter)?

    You mean a 3G USB Stick to connect to 3G networks (then, yes)? Or a WiFi USB Stick designed to connect to WLAN (then, no)?

        just depends on the frequency of the device. Look up the datasheet then compare to here
