I am not a drinker but my friends are and they are paying a visit to the Barossa valley and want to know which wineries they can go for some wine tasting. Do you have a few that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.
Wineries in Barossa Valley
Comments
I used to live in the Barossa, there are so many to choose from but some of my favourites:
Around Nuriootpa:
Hentley Farm (lovely scenery around the area, great winery)
Elderton (Good reds)
Saltram (Pepperjack is a crowd favourite)
Whistler Wines
Tscharke (Across the road from Whistler)
Torbreck (Good reds)
Kaesler
Artisans of the Barossa (Great view - multiple smaller wineries in the same cellar door)Tanunda/Krondorf Road
Langmeil (Good overall)
Villa Tinto
Rockfords
Charles MeltonLyndoch
Kellermeister (Great overall, another great view too)
Kies Family WinesRowland Flat:
Leibich Wines - If you like fortified wines, go here, just inside of Rowland Flat going south from the Barossa.Yep, can't fault this list. Tscharke's/Kellermeister/Artisans/Rockfords for the shortlist.
I went there at the beginning of the year. Not a big wine drinker so I can't help there. Jacobs Creek felt really commercial. I like yalumba wines, it was rather picturesque there. The people at Jenke were really nice and it's one of the first you pass going into the wine region. Not many others stand out in my memory
It depends on what you're after… Some of the well known ones, like Yalumba have a wide range of wines to try and some pretty decent drops… Chateau Tanunda is also another one which is pretty good, good range of wines, tasty and there's a croquet lawn if you're inclined to have a game… Tsharke's is a smaller winery with some pretty special wines, a few relatively unknown varieties as well, so good for something different (and one of the girls that works there is mindblowingly magnificent :D ).
They were the three I went to last time I was in the Barossa… Also, if you're after a bite to eat, Roaring Forties in Angastan to a magnificient pizza :)
