Surface RT at EDU pricing

  It's going to be super difficult, if not possible, if you don't go to Uni.

  If you do go to Uni then hit up your Student Services or Guild and see if they know about it.

  You may have to be the driving force behind it.

      You can do other things besides angry birds, you can tweet lol

      Actually i am loving my surface, its not the best but its great if you need windows + office functionality.

  Microsoft has just recently announced an effective write-off US$900 million as a result of the RT debacle and the number of Surface RT tabs they had made for them.
  I think the current education discount may well become the mainstream consumer pricepoint as regards current stock - sooner rather than later.

    I believe MS launched it at a high price not to undercut and pee off their partners and other vendors. Doing this way exclusively through the educational channel doesn't quite do that, they would have bought non ms products. its a way to jump start the eco system and build reliance on win8 and rt.

      Other vendors - especially Asus - could hardly be more peed-off by Microsoft. The constraints built into its glorious RunTime OS effectively doomed it in the wider marketplace right from the get-go. Should've been anticipated. Microsoft couldn't see the wood for the trees.
      Pictures have emerged recently showing that even poor old Nokia had a (now cancelled) 10 inch RT tablet ready to go.

      As for Microsoft - they are indeed dearly hoping/praying that they might be able to establish RT in the educational realm - but don't doubt for a minute that it's primarily about trying to shift the warehouse stockpiles of RT tabs.
      Notwithstanding potential behind the scenes manoeuvres, I do believe they'll need to do better than the current pricing to achieve that.

      Regardless, I hope you get a deal you're happy with on you new tab. They're certainly not without their virtues - especially if you do happen to get one a very keen price. This is OzBargain after all.
