Hi there,
I bought a MacBook Pro Retina last year around November so it's still within one year of Apple's Warranty.
The laptop has since been in repair twice for various things such as a faulty screen and bad motherboard.
I was wondering, after reading the ACCC guidelines. If I have another major fault that affects the usability of the laptop in a major way does that mean I can reasonably ask for a replacement or a refund?
Why I'm wondering this is because there have been some issues and I'm getting tired of having to bring it in for repairs ( which Apple had so far courteously complied with)
I was just wondering what rights do I have and does Apple even listen to them?
Thanks for reading.
The first thing you should do is ask Apple. Politely mention that since it is coming in for repair a third time that you would like the unit to be replaced, rather than repaired. If it's a refund you want, same thing. Tell them that the amount of repairs needed have made you want to re-think your choices and you'd like money back.
Honestly, I can't see money back being too likely, but as far as I know they are required to offer a refund if it's a major fault. Maybe go in and ask for money back first, if they say no then tell them you'd settle for a replacement rather than a repair.
