Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator Online Courses?

Good Day!
My wife wants to do an online course for Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator.
If anyone did any or know a decent place please share your experience.
Free or low cost is the way to go but we do not mind to spend around $500 for a good one.

We want to move to Gold Coast. I am a fun of Coolangatta and it's quiet life.
Or Melbourne but the winter temperature is killing that deal hehe

Your thoughts on where she will find a better job in tourism industry?

Thank you
All the Best

    • Yeah and where are the courses and prices…
They develop courses for Tafe etc

For travel agent, most likely TAFE - Certificate III in Tourism (International Travel Sales) - it's not a short course, six month full time as there is more involved that you realise. Depending on her situation, she may be able to do it free via government training spaces.

    Thank you!
She has 6+ years of experience working overseas (in place like Flight Center) and she is doing Adv. Diploma in Business in Tafe. So we only have time for online course.

She might be better off just looking for a job, then getting a refresher course in the airline booking system used by her employer.

      • Yeah that too
But it will look good on her CV if she does Tourism related course before applying for a job.
Anyway I wanted to find a place like https://www.udemy.com/

If she has 6 years overseas experience at Flight Centre it shouldn't be neccessary. No offence, but why would you waste your time on a course that would have no standing in the industry? She might be better off spending the time working on her resume wording, tailoring and presentation (seeing a professional can be worth the investment in this regards), or getting basic skills that are add value to employers like First Aid certificate.

        • Thank you!
Yeah we are doing this too.

  • Just keep in mind GC is suffering in the job market…might be better to consider Brisbane.

    • I think she can work in Surfers paradise and we can live in Coolangatta.
I'v been to Brisbane and didn't like it much, beaches are too far.

The Gold Coast has some of the highest unemployment rates in Australia.
Also, during peak hour, it can take up to 90 minutes to get from Surfers to Coolangatta - it can even be quicker to take the M1 to Brisbane from Coolangatta.

And as much as the tourism industry is picking up in Queensland - Travel Agents are on the way out.

        • Oh come on!
Why is it the best place is always the most difficult! hehe
