Just to claify, DSE is part of woolworths group. Not Wesfarmers. Wesfarmers are one of woolworth groups biggest (if not their single biggest) competitors especially given they bought Coles group a couple of years ago.
Amen to the manager at Warringah Mall, Great Bloke.
As to doing it, Macbooks and imacs have a ~10.7% margin and Pros have a ~12.5% margin.
Usually add-ons make the sale profitable, and even if not the pro sales usually make it worthwhile.
Though when myer has the 10% rebate on vouchers, its worth buying vouchers and getting them to pricematch the 10% off discount.
19% off macbooks are sweet sauce :)
Dick Smith are part of WOOLWORTHS/WESFARMERS Ltd.
They are a BIG company, one of the biggest employers in Australia - 5000+ staff.
They can lose money like this, and in fact, do it all the time on all kinds of stuff.
They'd rather lose a little bit of money than have stock sitting there doing nothing.
Also got a good Manager at Warringah Mall, who understands the process. Some Dick Smith Managers are arseholes - such as Blacktown - and won't discount stock for anybody.
