ETA - reading through the Brother reviews, it seems that feeding documents through straight can be a real pain, and the quality on photos is not as good. There's the reason that people are prepared to pay double for the Fujitsu scanners I guess.
Thanks for the heads up. Amazon are good, I have promotion emails from them on scanners LOL. I do welcome the info. The project I am looking at - has to way the cost benifits to getting the material. I cannot expect any one to send me their boxes of photos. So will keep looking and will post if I see a suitable scanner that can scan internal/sd/usb. Thanks
can i suggest using a scanning app on your mobile phone maybe?
If you are going to send that scanner in the post, you would really be wanting a portable solution. The Scansnap S1100 is probably the pick of the mobile scanners:-

However, the Brother mobile scanners are cheaper right now (about $100 shipped from Amazon) although I dont think that they are as good:-

This is USB powered and quite small. It is primarily a document scanner rather than a photo scanner, but I have the scansnap s1500 on my desk and it does an adequate job on photos as well. The problem with mobile scanners is that it can be difficult to feed through documents perfectly straight, and you do need to feed them manually. The Scansnap software does a good job of fixing this up though, not sure about the Brother.
I am planning to buy a document scanner for home just to keep our personal docs in order, so I have the S300 sitting in my Amazon cart, I may try the Brother however for the sake of its cheaper price.
Anything else and the cost of postage sending it to your relos is easily going to eclipse the cost of the scanner.
