Long range wireless mouse (multimedia) - cheap of course

G'day all!

I'm looking for a wireless mouse for HTPC located through 2 walls 10m away. Most mice (meese?) seem to have 10m range and I don't want to be fighting it all the time.

It's for occasional use so battery life is not critical. The cheaper the better, but useability is a higher priority. I want it to work fairly reliably and not do things like refuse to wake up when you stop using it for a while (eg watching a movie). Don't care if it's laser or optical but would prefer that it is useable on a knee or leather lounge!

This one claims to have 15m range but I also don't want to waste 5 bucks without checking OzB first! I'd rather pay $30 for a good one now, than $5 now and $30 later…

This would be great if I knew its range was long enough: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Rapoo3500-SlimBlade-Media-Mouse-…

Thanks!

Why not use your smartphone to remotely control? Simply install Unified Remote (Android and WinPhone) on both the phone and the server on the PC, and you will be able to remotely control your HTPC from anywhere so long as they're both on the same wifi network.

It works very reliably and it even automaticaly stops your media player whenever your phone rings.

    • This..
Even better, use xbmc and the xbmc remote
Anything else is going to be sketchy at that range.
Your walls are not the same as my walls, so even if someone does have a "wonder mouse" that does have that range, there's no guarantee that you'll have the same experience.

  • Anything with a logitech Unifying receiver has good range for me, even through walls. Installing and usage is also simple, you just plug the receiver in a USB port and turn on the mouse.

They can as cheap as $10-20 if you look around.

  • Good responses! Thanks

  • UPDATE: This one works fine! http://www.ebay.com/itm/400517039374

    • Still going well.
