New Classifieds Section Replaces Selling and Swapping Forum

We have just released a new classifieds section to replace the existing selling and swapping forum. It which has some different fields from deals or forum posts, such as price, location, payment, delivery methods, and ability to link to multiple images. This is listed at the bottom of our list of forums when you hover over 'Forums' on the top menu.

With the exception of entertainment book voucher swap listings, all existing selling and swapping topics have been moved to classifieds. We have created a temporary forum 'Entertainment Book Voucher Swap' under 'Bargains, Deals and Freebies' to cater for those specifically.

Restrictions on who can post classifieds listings:

  • No overseas users
  • No members less than 1 year old (Updated 9 Feb 2019)
  • Poster needs to have private messaging enabled.

          @brentsbits - RSS feeds rolled out today - there should be a feed icon on the bottom of classifieds listing pages.

    Members less than a year old are no longer allowed to post in the classifieds area.

    From investigating reports of fraudulent activity in classifieds, we have noticed that quite a number of new users who post bad quality deals just meet the requirement to post in the classifieds area 6 weeks later. We have now decided that everyone posting in the classifieds area needs to be a member for at least one year, regardless of whether they have posted a deal or not. As of this morning, the system should automatically stop users less than 1 year old from posting.

      Sorry, we will not be bringing it back as it is a public page, and we no longer want to expose classifieds to non-members due to incidents of scams.

      Were you accessing the section from a guest session (i.e. not logged in)?

      Glad you like them :) We were noticing that a lot of users where writing 'WTS', 'WTB' etc in titles so the classified type was moved to the title to make it more obvious.

      From now on, 'WTS' and 'WTB' and related phrases will be removed from the title as we see them.

        Yep that's good. the WTS/WTB flags were inconsistent so it make it tricky to work out if something was wanted or if they were selling!

      i don't like them myself, too bolded, too similar colour - might even be the same colour but my eyes/monitor distorts things. probably just me though.

        One of the shades has been adjusted.
