WHA!!!>>>>???? since when did softdrink have a useby date??? its not milk…..

i've never seen or noticed a use by date ever!!!

mind you i just buy and drink it within a week or so - so i guess useby dates are useless in my case….

      • It is a best before not a used by. Just a recommendation.

      • Yea they did it with the Coke zero cherry, they marked them all as expiring in July, like 1 month after stores stopped selling it.
I think Best before is sometimes a bit of a lie with soft drinks, I mean they were only around since xmas.

          Ewwww… Coke Zero with Cherry???

        • All i know with softdrinks past their useby dates is
          1. They become flat
          2. Their colour starts settling onto the side of the bottle
          3. flavour settles at the bottom and do i dare say crystalises ahah

        • Diet coke releases gas(ses) and causes the can to expand, it may eventually break.

      • Not sure with cans but at work we had cartons of 600ml past there use by dates. The bottles were all flat.

      • Try drinking a can of something with artificial sweetener in it after the use by date… all the 'sweetness' will be gone. Bought a Coke Zero 2 months past from a local shop and took it back as it tasted of … nothing :)

I don't know how the stuff in Next breaks down over time … but sugar drinks don't have the problem, at least not to the same degree.

      • Aspartame breaks down, more quickly if subject to heat. You can verify this on Wiki.

    • Make the garbage cheap enough so anyone will buy it. Cheaper than landfill I guess.

    • Misleading. They were not using it in the products, one of their contractors were using them to research taste receptors and enhancers, nowhere has it been stated it was even for Pepsi

    • Not really. Let me check snopes for you:

Pledge, if only pepsi had used your fetal tissue….

    • I prefer Kleenex tissue

    • Calm down guy

  • $5 can't go wrong, give it to the kids at a BBQ, they don't care.

They will when they grow up obese and diabetic!

      • +1

or just give them the sugar free stuff, isnt that linked to cancer?

  • +2

diet soft drink has a best before date, and in my experience, it should be observed.

Hi, my name is shmahoo, and I'm a Pepsi Max addict, and this is my story.

    All "Hi Shmahoo"

I drink it a lot, and can definitely tell when a can/bottle is close to it's BB date. The sweetners in Pepsi Max are not as stable as sugar, and do change in taste as time goes by. I've never had flat Pepsi Max in a sealed container, but definitely had stale tasting bottles and cans.

Thanks for welcoming me here. I feel very safe sharing my story :) .

    • This is for Pepsi Next and it isn't really a 'diet' soft drink per say. It uses stevia which is a plant and natural sweetener.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia

      • * per se

Correct, no diet sweetener in Next. Also Pepsi Next still contains 70% of sugar in normal Pepsi.

        • +1

Pepsi Next and Stevia still taste of artificial sweetener to me. I think that's why Next failed so miserably, I'm either going to drink Pepsi for the taste or Pepsi Max to avoid the sugar and suffer the artificial sweetener taste. Why would I suffer through the latter and still have the calories?

        • Yeah Stevia has a little bitterness.

        • almost as much bitterness the entire employees of Pepsi have towards the executive who signed off on producing Pepsi Next.

  • Just confirming this would be relevant to Victorian Oz bargainer, & even then potentially one store [20 boxes]at that ?

  • +5

tastes so bad that i wont be interested even for free

    • Agreed.

    • +2

That's why l mix it with Bourbon, totally changes the flavour !!

  • I like the stuff if i sore it for 5 bucs for a 24 pack i would fill my boot and back seats full of it lmao

    • lol your post probably is more damning evidence than pledge has above about pepsi being no good as it causes dyslexia….. ducks

      • no need to duck! Don't worry, if they drink it that much they will probably have so little physical conditioning that they won't be able to harm you or accurately throw anything at you

  • I just grabbed two slabs. Some have August expiry but not many. They were still fully stacked like the picture when I visited.

  • ah well..bought the 15 pack fr Coles last week. 6.50$; Expiry date: Dec '13.

  • I was going to try Pepsi Next for the first time when Coles had the 15 pack at half price last week, but the only ones on the shelf were already past their "best before" date (early July), so I stuck with my usual Pepsi Max.

  • They had some at Malvern too couple days ago. I got the last one with aug expiry;)
