Sony Xperia Z 16GB WiFi Tablet - $497 @ The Good Guys

70

Just saw this in a catalogue this arvo. Been waiting for these to go down. Cheapest price prior to this was $521 at JB Hifi.

I read a thread somewhere about going into JB and asking/haggle for a discount… but all I got was "this is the best price". This was during the EOFY sales so maybe they weren't that desperate.

EDIT: I'm based in WA so maybe that makes a difference with JB discounts??

  • Anyone seen a price better than $630 HN for the 4G LTE one? ( http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108395 )

In fact are there any brick and mortar stores other than HN with a similar price for the LTE?

What is the point of paying for a second data service when you can just tether from your phone?

      • +2

Because my phone will run out of power too quickly.

        • Agreed . Tethering really sucks the guts out of every phone I've ever used .

        • My phone does not do 4G, and tethering seems really crappy (Xperia P + Amaysim)-I don't know if it is the phone or the optus network….
Also there are a few pay as you go data services so paying for a separate service is not an issue.

Loving this tablet so far - push a bit harder on the price :)

It's listed for $528 at JB, the guy I talked to won't budge on the price and when he did, he gave me a $6 discount. Laughable. $497 is a very good price.

    • That makes it $522 after discount. That's pretty bad considering $521 was standard pricing before EOFY

  • I had the LTE 4G version but it was faulty, it kept registering random touches and freezing. I'm sure the majority of them are fine but if you are experiencing this. TAKE IT BACK! Although HN agreed it was faulty and gave me the option to get my refund they spent 30min trying to convince me to wait for the next shipment to arrive. It got a little irritating.

  • 3 weeks ago at JB in Maribyrnong I got the tablet for $485 with no issues.

This was after I had been to TGG across the road and they said the exact same price was the best they would do it for.

    • It depends on the person obviously. Some are more anal than others.

    • I would of gone back to tgg since he/she gave you their service and best price in the first place. Nonetheless good price

Best tablet on the market at the moment. Good price.

  • I tried one in the Good Guys and found it a bit underwhelming. Flicking between home screens was a bit stuttery. I heard a 3rd party launcher can help but should I have to on a $500 tablet. The other main thing I look at in tablets is browser smoothness and didn't find it very smooth. Maybe it was just the unit I was testing. Damn, it is light and thin though.

  • I picked up one from JB the other day for 465, but in saying that i knew someone there, but yes it is all about the commission, why would they sell you something for dirt cheap and not get any money for it where as if they wait 5 minutes someone else will come by and buy it at normal price and they get paid for it.
