Valued Opinions

Hi everyone

I'm curious to know how many OzBargainers fill out surveys using Valued Opinions. I notice a lot of OzB'ers who are reluctant to give out their personal information for the purposes of receiving a free sample of some kind and wonder if they might have the same feeling about passing on their opinions in exchange for cash?

Personally, I don't have the same feelings about handing out my pesonal information for freebies (especially given how simple it is to list a slightly incorrect DOB for example) but I can understand why people do and wanted to hear a bit about that.

Also, to your knowledge, dear OzBargainers, are there any other survey sites that you recommend like Valued Opinions that have surveys as regularly and pay out in cash or vouchers?

Cheers
Claire

I use two opinion sites. I checked out Valued Opinions but didn't like some of their terms and conditions.

I use Opinion World and Toluna. So far I haven't had any trouble with them although there is a discussion thread somewhere on the internet about some of the troubles other members have had with Toluna. I've only been a member for 6 months and have received about $100 in gift cards. I got lucky about a month into Opinion World. There were two large surveys which I did across a couple of weeks and these paid $50 for just those two surveys. Others might not be as lucky with the surveys they get.

The survey sites have some correct information on me and some incorrect information. There are some sites where you can choose how much information to give them about yourself. I never give income details and have been booted from some surveys as a result of this. Other surveys will accept an answer of "Prefer not to answer" without booting you out.

One of the things I checked out before joining was how rewards are paid and what rewards are available. What is the lowest value reward that can be redeemed and is it one that is useful to you? Do points expire after a certain period of time? How long do the survey sites take to send the rewards out? I have been lucky in that the sites I have used have taken less than a month to post out my giftcards. Some companies may take longer than this. Some suvey sites offer email vouchers which can be used at online shops and I believe these get processed quicker than the physical gift cards that I get.

    • Nice reply, thanks pointscrazy :)

    • Hi pointscrazy, do you get anything if you refer me to Opinion World? May want to join.

I use Valued Opinions and quite like it, they have quite a bit of surveys once every few days.

      • I don't know of any referral system with Opinion World

I mostly object to anything that requires Facebook. Two reasons, one is the profiling and selling of your data, but the other is the assumption that everyone has/should have Facebook as if it is the internet. Putting this much control on a private company is a bad idea.

Consider Facebook is actually blocked in quite a few countries and a few work places, website requiring it is just silly.

    • Totally agree with you Bruce!

I use Valued Opinions regularly, not so much anymore and i don't get past the qualification questions often these days. They know my name and address so they can send me vouchers. I personally don't usually have much problem giving out my postcode and DOB/age to the different surveys though. Most will ask me for your salary but you choose a range from the drop down menu which i don't mind either. Also depending on the question, i may give false information if it's a really personal question.

Once you get to $20 you can choose from a list of places you would like a voucher for, i think you can also donate to certain charities. They had a long delivery time recently so my last lost took a month i think but they told you before had to wait up to 42 days before emailing them.

They do have a referral system too, i believe you both get $2 after you do your first survey i think, if you use the link provided in the email that is. Let me know if you want to do this too.

I think i started around November sometime and have cashed in about $120 so far. I'll usually only do the surveys when i have some free time, i generally consider the time at about $1 per 10 minutes. Sure it doesn't sound much but i only really do it to fill in some time, maybe while i'm doing something else.

Happy to answer anymore questions you have.

  • I use Valued Opinions for a few years now. Found them quite good, and I was getting 3-4 $20 gift cards each month. Along with some great product trials such as Iced Tea and other products which paid around $50-$60 depending on how much feedback you offered.
I find the surveys are much longer now, and do not receive as many of them so it is not worth the time. I now only do surveys occasionally.
I do want to find some ways to make good money on the internet, surveys are just not enough. Thinking of doing transcription work on Fiverr or a similar site.
