Missed the wooden floppy last time, thanks.

Be warned. I've ordered several sets of scales from deals direct (not this particular one). The first one reported incorrect weights right out of the gate. I got a replacement that worked for about 6 months and then started being inaccurate. In the intervening time I bought a second set for my parents and that was only accurate for about 6 months as well.

digital scales report inaccurate readings when the battery is low, this is why after 6 months or so they begin to report false readings :)

      • This wasn't the issue. I replaced the batteries. I believe calibration started to get off from the load cells in each of the feet. Depending on which foot I was leaning towards I could skew my reported weight by +/-5%. This wasn't a problem when I first got the scales - aside from the initial bad one.

    • Thanks for the info. How far out were the results?

      • Mine was wildly inaccurate…+/- 7 kg.

thought this was a 3.5" floppy disk, showing my age here…

I'd stay away from unknown branded digital scales - unless you want to wildly damage/improve your emotion (on the toss of a coin). Choice did a review a while back, it's a bit dated, but it gives you an overview of what to expect from some brands: http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/food-and-health/d…

  • The wooden one is out of stock.

  • Bugger - I missed the wooden ones AGAIN.

Note that the $9.97 black is also out of stock.

Only the mega-fugly $12.47 ones left.

  • I bought a similar set a few weeks ago. I literally just took them out of the box when I saw comments above about inaccurate readings. My old digital scales had me at 79.6kg and the one from Deals Direct said I was 12.3kg (go figure). I suspected they may be faulty but after looking at the manual there is a caution in bold and upper case on the very first page saying people with pacemakers should not use these scales so perhaps the issue with mine is more the pacemaker interfering than the scales themselves (it also mentions in the back of the manual that people with metal implants not getting accurate readings too).

I'll get a family member to test it out later today and provide an update below.

    • Update: The ones I have are faulty. It also returned a 12.3kg reading for another person I had test them.

I hope the return/refund or replacement process is not too complicated!
