  • Hi rep, is the deal nationwide? cause I couldn't find the classic "about us" page in your site.
What does "unlimited time" mean? Can i book you for a whole day for that price?(e.g. 5 shots in the morning, 5 at noon and 10 in the evening)?

    • +2

5 shots in jan at dawn, 5 in the mid june noon, and 10 in the oct evening.

      • even next year(that's what unlimited time)stands for, except if you show me clear terms and conditions, faq etc. ;)

    • G'day,

Unlimited time means just that, you can book me for the whole day if you like. The about page is coming I am sorry about that the webpage crashed last week.

      • Thank you rep, IMHO you need to put some more info in your site(or here) so the deal is more clear.

        • Fixing the webpage up now, as I said the web host crashed and lost parts of the webpage.

My main concern first and foremost is of course how good is the photographer/photography, closely followed by how much the larger prints would cost and whether we would have copyright or at least right to use the photos we "purchased'.

    • They have a gallery on their website, thats an idea of the photos you would get right?

      • you'd be surprised how many studios display photos that 'someone who once worked here took' or even using stock photos.

but these guys are competing on price, not quality anyway.

You have nothing to worry about with me, I have shot weddings and other events, as for the copyright I abide by the Australian Copyright laws when it comes to contracted photography work, I do have the right to use the images any way I wish as a contract is signed however the client will not have the right to use the image for financial gain unless other wise stated in the contract.

The cost for larger prints are very well priced, I charge just over cost price and use Pro print labs in Melbourne and Queensland, places that charge $50 for a 11x14 are the ones you need to watch out for or force up sell on you are the ones to worry about, I do not believe in ripping people off it is one of the things I do not like to see happen my passion is photography NOT to rip people off.

If you want to see more of my work please head over to my fb page https://www.facebook.com/naphotos

      • That a contract is signed means nothing, what are the terms of your contract?

the client will not have the right to use the image for financial gain unless other wise stated in the contract.

Typically this means they do not have copyright and thus need your approval for all copies. Again though, what are the actual terms?

        • The Client can run off as meany copy's of the photo they like, they have the disk to do what they like with it but they do not have the right to call it there own work when they did not take the photo.

  • Where are you based? No address on website.

    • I am a freelance photographer, I am in Melbourne but I come to you.

      • Please specify location. If I am in Sydney will you come to Sydney?

        • Sorry I wont :(

  • New Age Photos is a young and dynamic company

I do not believe that it is a "company".

    Domain Name: newagephotos.com.au
    Registrant: BUCKMAN, STEPHEN JAMES
    Registrant ID: ABN 89635485859
    Eligibility Type: Sole Trader

ABN status: Active from 16 Jul 2010
    Entity type: Individual/Sole Trader
Goods & Services Tax (GST): Not currently registered for GST

No address, contact phone number, or ABN, on the website.

    • In order to have a .com.au domain you need to be a registered business and I am, ABN is on the webpage and I have the contact page where people can email me there information and I will call them back, and as a freelance photographer I am not obligated to provide an address.

His point is that a business (and having an ABN) is not necessarily a company. In most cases, it's a sole trader.

    I am sorry OP..

Your most "basic" package of $700 do not cover the quality of work shown in your gallery, half of the images aren't even in the frame. Some are even blown out by the use of a flash in broad daylight. If the gallery are your best photos god help us if someone was to buy your "top" package.

    • You know it's funny, I have done a lot of weddings and all the couples have been very happy with the outcome, I have never had to once have to issue a refund.

      • +1

It's nice that they told you that, but honestly, if your gallery is your 'best' work then you probably need to re-evaluate. Or put up some actual examples of actual paid work that actually backs up your statements of 'impeccable sense of style' and 'beautiful photography'. It's all selective color, on camera flash with sweet shadowing, hotspots, random color temps, busy backgrounds and awkward candids (possibly at a wedding you werent even hired for). They seriously look like snapshots someone's mum took.

But anyways, good luck with it. I am sure there are price-concious consumersout there who want $200 photography services.

        • I do not use on camera flash, the external flash guns I use are Canon and where I can I bounce the flash, if you like you can continue this convo over message.

        • jjcf is right.
The only excuse you have is you are a "young company".
So grow up, learn, practice and … you will see what jjcf is talking about. And it will make your pictures better.

  • I just want to make one thing clear, I'm not out to rip any one off, I am not like other groups that will sting you for $1000 for 6 prints

  • lol.. that was a bit expensive, i think…

i am not a profesional, and have only done a few small weddings, and happy to charge $30 and hour for portrait sessions outdoor, and give you all the photos i have taken, instead of 30 photos…

i can take at least 50 photos in 1 hour. all those photos will be soft edited via lightroom, and i will provide 20 photos hard edited, for every 1 hour that i had been booked for.

my work will be as follows : facebook.com/yangscreation

    • And I can see why you only charge $30, let's break down the cost, I travel all around Victoria for $200, I spend all day with the client or however long they want me, then I drive home, spend hours working on the photos plus the cost of the prints done from a pro lab (not Kmart.

If I was to give the client all the photos they would end up with over 400 shots, on a wedding I tend to do just over 2000 photos, so if I was to edit each and every one of those 400 photos think of the amount of time I would be spending on it.

Not trying to be harsh but tbh your photos are very washed out and the HDR photos they look.. I do not know but dude they do not look good.

    • Charging $30 for 50 photos and then editing them all…… ok so what you are saying is that you are willing to work for no more than $5 an hour. But then if you are doing "hard" editing of 20 of them then maybe this could mean you are working for about $2 or $3 an hour.

Editing is something which can take a few minutes or up to easily an hour depending on what you are trying edit in or edit out. For example, we can edit in or edit out tattoos in an image, but it takes a long time to do it so well that you cannot tell that it has been edited.

Whilst I'm here I will respond to some comments above.
If you need me to copy and paste from a higher source to validate my statement then I'm happy to but the rights of the images are owned by the artist unless the artist signs away the rights and ownership of these images. By selling digital images to our guests who use us, we (meaning photographers in general) tend to accept that we are giving them the permission and right to use those images as they so choose.

For that matter, by posting any image online we have to accept that these images are now for general use and consumption even if we have all the copyrights etc in the world…we don't have to do nothing about it but we do have to expect that they will be used in an unauthorised way.

So I don't know about sbphotography (which is annoying me that you are using that name but you used it first ….and I am not associated with this person in any way) but knowing that others will rip my photos off means that I do not post up my "pride and joy" images on my website (yes I work in this industry too and for disclosure my site is www.simplybeautifulphotography.com.au - so you can see why i need to clearly state that I have NO association with the OP). Seriously, you should really call yourself NAphotography…just for my sake haha, kidding, well not completely.

So back to the point, the images you see on websites, at least on my website, will tend to not be the "best" but useful for illustrative purposes only.

I'll defend the OP in one other manner….yes (s)he is a sole trader and no (s)he is not a company but I think it is easy to accept that the OP wasn't intending to deceive.

I do, however, agree that your title should have been more clear.
