      Yeah I noticed that too. When I put my order through the 2VP ad was pointing to to the XBA2 page ($35 and no inline mic on the cable). Loaded the 2VP page manually by editing the 1VP link and voilá; inline mic appeared in the pics and $40 price tag.
      
      Guessing Sony fixed it at some point

    As I understand it the promotion code will work for the standard online shop items, however I'm guessing they will only give out promotion codes for the items still listed on the sale site.

  xba3 was the pick of the bunch, apparently (most seem to prefer the xb3 over the xba4 even).
  
  but i'm sure the xba1/2 are still decent enough…nowhere near as good a deal as the xba3, but probably still better than anything else for the price.

      I came here to say the same thing. It does say on the booklet to ensure the earpiece fits correctly, although I still find them a little off sounding. Is this just the sound they produce?

      i figure i can handle 50 bucks to try them out and compare them to the ultimate ears super fi 5 i bought a few years back, provided sony come to the party!!

      to get the best bass from them:
      1) ensure you've got a good seal. make sure you have the right sized/type of tips, that make a vacuum in your ears. it's kinda gross, but one thing that helps is wetting the eartips with saliva to help create a seal.
      2) get some Comply tips: they should provide a better and more comfortable seal, and apparently emphasise the bass (and tame the highs a bit).
      3) get a bass boost amp. i have a digizoid ZO2 (and fiio e17). apparently fiio e6 is a good cheap and small amp for bass boost as well.
      
      also, remember these are BA (balanced armature) driver earphones…depending what your point of reference is, they're not going to be able to match the bass impact of a bass-monster dynamic driver earphone. i haven't got my xba3 yet, but when i compared my friend's set against my ie80's, bass on ie80 was significantly better, but clarity of xba3 was significantly better (as expected).

I got through on saturday and got a set of xba 3's. Well got as far as getting a confirmation on the website, and they have taken the money from my account. Never got
a confirmation email though so I've been emailing back andfoforth with them to try and get it sorted. Also did the que thing as well and no email yet…

Thought i'd update my situation. Just received a phonecall from sony. Very polite lady told me about the servers not handling the traffic, blah blah blah. And she asked me what i ordered. Told her it was an XBA 3 and now i have one on backorder and should have it when they get more stock. Pretty happy with that result.

Got my XBA-3 today. Box was scratched up but product itself new. Sounds amazing.

Edit: On more extended hearing I feel the highs are a bit too harsh. Anyone else agree?

    XBA-3 - Just the right amount of bass, BA drivers minimize leakage and great clarity. Great soundstage and suprising detail. Fun and warm sounding. Great all rounder.. HOWEVER. There were the mettalic tinge in vocals and harsh treble— deal breakers.. but I then read that Japan had a XBA-30 that apparently fixed these issues.

      i have Comfort PLUS (with earwax filter…cause i have bad earwax!)
      
      from what i understand, the active ones don't have as much isolation. the Isolation and Comfort differ mainly in the shape (Isolation are longer, Comfort are more spherical: shorter and fatter). the name would suggest that Isolation might provide more isolation (goes further in), while the Comfort might be more comfortable (don't have to stick in as far)…but i think it really depends on the shape of your ear: it's quite possible that you'll find the opposite.
      
      i would recommend isolation or comfort, whichever shape you think you might prefer. and if you get a lot of earwax, then consider the isolation/comfort PLUS.

I have received my XBA2VP and XBA3 but both have static noise when plugged to my Samsung GS4, does anyone else have similar issue? Or is it my phone that is bad? When I used my other earphones they sound fine.

  I use XBA2VP with my iphone 4s. Never had issue with static. Test headphones with other phone to see whether they are faulty.

Received my shipment today via DHL…pretty quick. The boxes have some marks of labels peeled off, otherwise both headsets are brand new, and work flawlessly.

For $39, the XBA-2VP sounds darn good!

Got my XBA 2vp today, they actually sound better than my XBA B75 with dubstep, the Bluetooth ones aren't really worth it. I was actually guna sell the XBA 2 to a friend. But am going to keep them. I cant imagine how good the XBA 3's are :(

how long are most backorders?

ordered my XBA3iPs on the 6 jul and payment approved on the 9 jul.

i use some ATH-CKS90i's but think these would make a great backup

Got a call from Sony to tell me the XBA-3IPs couldn't be backordered. Offered to substitute a set of XBA-4s instead.
Seemed like a reasonable swap.

  well, a lot of people (most even) actually seem to prefer xba3…something about xba4 not sounding very coherent. (i haven't heard xba4 myself tho)
  
  they do have extra bass…i'm a basshead, so personally would take the xba4.
  
  if you aren't a basshead, you might like to try to swap with someone for xba3.

    I's also a basshead. Nothing worse than the moment when you know a heavy beat is about to come crashing down but when it arrives ite bass has been taken out, wrapped in a bundle of pillows inside a soundproof box on the other side of a double glazed window pane

      People have described xba4 as disjointed (because of the filter/non-crossover implementation, I believe), with the sound spectrum feeling a bit artificial and incoherent.
      
      BUT, audiophiles are usually pretty anti bass emphasis, so their opinion might be coloured (or non-coloured, as it were!).

So… placed my order over the phone with Sony Store in Nunawading, before all this ticketing craze happened. They promised it should be here last Monday. Gave them a call today and they have no idea when they're arriving, if at all. sigh
