If you go through a free VPN (such as thefreevpn.com) and make a new account, you can gift the uncensored version and play it on your main Australian account.

Address doesn't seem to matter - Beverly Hills CA 90210 has worked in the past with my Australian credit card.

    • If your account is unlocked you can buy from any region as Steam it self dosnt care what region you get the game from, as long as you buy from them its ok,

I buy most of my games from the US store now :D

And how does one get their account unlocked? I've always had to rely on friends overseas as I never really trusted free VPNs

        • Change your password after VPNing?

        • I did my one by asking Steam to unlock my account and make it region free,

I did a post on Whirl pool some time ago about it and worked for a lot of people however some specific support agents would not unlock their accounts, very hit and miss depending agent you get handed too

        • What reasoning did you give for your account to be unlocked?

I spend a lot of time in the US for work purposes

          cough

        • I tried to do that through Tor but at the last stages steam just won't process the order.

Steam can be so useless and annoying sometimes.

    • I've gone ahead and done this Steve (made the new account under US), but the "Purchase as a Gift" is grayed out. What's the workaround for this besides dropping a dollar on the humble bundle to make the account premium?

      EDIT
I went ahead and redeemed Indie Game: The Movie from a few Humble Bundles back. So glad I never activated that 'til now. Account can now gift.

There is a small program, Left4Uncut, that you can run before you load up L4D2 that turns it into the uncut version. https://sites.google.com/site/left4uncut/l4u

    • currently not working with the latest steam update

  • Can't wait for possible re-classification, haven't heard any updates yet though :(

    • I doubt it will ever be reclassified. It requires the publisher to resubmit it which I think has some cost associated with it, not to mention some time and effort.

I don't think many (if any) of the games that were refused classification will ever be resubmitted, the publishers don't really care about older games. The new mortal kombat wasn't resubmitted for classification, however it had a 'komplete' version re-released which happened to be after the r18 came in, and that made it past.

  • I would recommend not buying the AUS version even with the hack to make it full gore I believe online dosnt work when its applied (Correct me if its changes since I last looked at it)

Best to source it from US sellers or another region, I got my one from the US or UK market when it launched,

    • It does work online (at least for campaign co-op).

Would still recommend getting the proper version though.

  • Anyone know if there are still a lot of players for this game?

  • Bought 4 pack, thanks op

The R18+ won't allow us to play the uncut version of this game. Saints Row 4 and State of Decay have both been declined classification in Australia, and the developers have to change certain aspects of the games (drug names and such) to let it be accepted into Australia. The R18+ rating doesn't allow more violent games to be released in Australia, it simply ensures under 18's can't buy the violent games that ARE released. The strict classification rules Australia has are still very much in place, and you can expect further games to be declined classification until aspects of the game are changed. There is very little chance the uncut version of L4D2 will ever be released in Australia, sorry.

    • Use the link given above https://sites.google.com/site/left4uncut/l4u

Patch game to uncut version, works fine with VAC. Only has to be patched once.

BTW, I never negged your comment.

      • No worries, I don't actually have the game, I'm just replying to OP, "I'm uncertain if/when it will be changed as we now have R rating."
There's practically no possibility it will be re-released in Australia even though we have the R rating.

    • "The R18+ rating doesn't allow more violent games to be released in Australia, it simply ensures under 18's can't buy the violent games that ARE released."

It does allow more violent games, ones that were unable to pass the ma15 rating but are able to pass the r18 rating. Mortal Kombat was refused before, but the new edition was allowed. It wasn't allowed before because it was too violent for ma15, but since the r18 rating came in the new 'komplete edition' was allowed (basicly the same game but with extra characters and stuff).

      • That's how I see it. For what it's worth, State of Decay wasn't banned for violence based on the report I saw, it was banned due to the drugs in the game. They have renamed the drugs vitamins and last I heard it has been resubmitted for another review.

Still, R18+ was never going to guarantee everything would get through. Same applies to films. I hope it doesn't happen too often and I'm frankly surprised a game as ridiculous as Saints Row was targeted.
