So is 1300watts powerful enough for carpet?
Whilst I'm far from an expert on the matter, I think a lot of the cheaper 2400W vacs are very inefficient, basically a lot of power is wasted, the dyson's are known to be very efficient so the 1300W rating is probably not as woosy as it may appear.
It is not about the power of the motor. It also depends on how efficient. Dyson are the best vacuum around no thinking on purchasing these.
I used the 2400w and I have this Dyson.
The Dyson wins hands down.
It'll pick up stuff the 2400w machines leave behind.
Was cheaper back in December due to better exchange rate (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88831) but still a great price.
Good price for a Kitchenaid Artisan also (around $500 shipped) if you missed out couple weeks back from Peter's ($525 with gift cards) or house ($599). Haven't checked but 10% + VAT should apply the same.

Are Dysons likely going to require a warranty return?
UK guarantee is 5 years.
Aus guarantee is only two years.
For how often most people use a vacuum, the majority would be unlucky to require warranty for any brand. That's just my gut feel though.
Bought, me in AKL time 0600hrs, called ms. In Mel, time 0400hrs to get secure code as mobile left there, priceless.
I also got the kitchen-aid last time this deal was around. Came in good time in a massive box. Too bad the dollar has gone down recently. Harrods is pretty good for this sort of house-hold stuff.
