Jumba Web Hosting 20% Off First Invoice

10
NEWPLANS

Just saw it on Jumba's home page, but this new signup offer seems to be running for a while (since 15 August). Basically they are giving out 20% off first invoice for the first 250 new customers signing up their web hosting packages. So if you sign up 12 months, you'll get 20% off the entire thing.

"Coupon is valid for all new customer signups, and all existing customers connecting new services only."

They are probably one of the cheaper Australian web hosting, and I once had my blog hosted with them for 8 months. The service is "okay". They are now merged into AussieHQ in Canberra.

  • Can anybody recommend any other web hosting services? Personal or small business around the $4/month mark to run 3 domains. I hope this is an ok place to type this question.
    Thanks!

    • Google Apps. I use them. Bit limited for web hosting but other than that they are great.

    • Well. I have just created a new forum Find Me A Bargain so people can ask questions there.

If your business is targeting Australians (which seems to be the case), and do not have a .com.au/.net.au domain (which seems to be the case as well), then you might want to consider using an Australian hosting company with servers in Australia, so that search engines can consider your site as an Australian site.

In that case $4/month is really limited…

It would be cheaper to get a .com.au domain (you should anyway if you are doing business in Australia), and then get hosting in US. Even with that setup, $4/month for a quality service is still pretty stretched.

Also keep in mind that web hosting is one of the lowest margin business, and providers in US have gone a great length to "buy" customers. There is usually a huge commission for new sign ups — as much as the whole first year hosting fee in some cases. There might be opportunity to get that commission back, if there is something like MoneyBackCo but for the hosting companies.

Have you heard of this company?

Regular plan $4/month with 5000 MB Hosting Space.

    Sounds ok?

    • I have never used them, but here are some facts

      • They have servers in The Planet in Dallas, TX.
      • They are connected to Astrahosting and have spammed all over the web. Search Google with link:domain-name to see who are linking them — mostly spam sites or left by comment spammers.
      • See this WebhostingTalk.com discussion thread to see how dodgy they are.

To sum it up — don't sign up with them.
