Why does your D3 contain 5000 IU when the adult RDA is around 500-1000 IU and the upper intake level is around 4000 IU?

    • +1

I've heard they hadn't updated the 500-1000 IU figure for ages and that it had been corrected to 5000.
correct me if I'm wrong :)

Well if so those corrections haven't made it to Wikipedia, and I'm sure lots of experts see that info. A 10x correction is no small matter.

          Oh dear…

        • You can also follow the references to national recommendations. But of course they could all be in cahoots.

          E.g. NIH here: http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminD-HealthProfessional…

Also, why does iHerb.com feel necessary to provide 5000 IU when the other manufacturers normally provide 1000 IU? Are they all conspiring to deprive you of D3?

Can i borrow your tinfoil hat?

You've jumping to the wrong conclusion like the other guy but in the other direction. The chance of overdose is actually very low, however the fact that iHerb feel the need to resort to such hyped up specs doesn't speak well for them.

      • The Australian Therapeutic guidelines are for those people with clinically diagnosed low blood levels of vitamin D3:
        5000IU for first 4 weeks
        then
1000-2000 for however long it is needed.

    • Just take 1 tablet every 5 days. Problem solved

If anything 1000IU a day is the minimum you should take

  • Spirulina is out of stock already :(

  • Prices in post would help.

  • OP, you only post deals with referrals? Hmm.

+1 for iHerb, bought some things at the last sale. Much better prices than AU, I paid $10 for express shipping and package arrived 3 days later. Very impressed
