If I stake $250 on Odds of 4.6 on a head to head bet and win - how much do I receive in TOTAL ?

Recently placed $250 on a bet with Odds being 4.6

I want to know how much I should have in my account if I win a head to head bet.

Thanks.

if you have to ask such a question you should not be gambling $1150 note some companies make charger a fee like 5% on winnings so you have to double check

Do you mean odds of 4.6/1, which would be expressed decimally as $5.60, which is the way most of the bookies do it these days, or do you mean $4.60, which is odds of 3.6/1?

Once you know what you are talking about, it is simple multiplication. You should have either $1400 or $1150 in your account from this bet.

Probably 4.60 as sportsbet, Luxbet, and iasbet, and bookmaker, and sporting bet use this system

      Whereas other sites(international) - use 3.6/1 and or 3.6-1

    $1150

Use websites that have sign up promotions like "Deposit 250 get 250 in free bets" like sportsbet.

As far as I'm aware, it's rare for companies to charge a fee for winnings

  • Ok thanks.

I am not new to betting - I am just new to online betting.

I always thought that odds being 4.6 meant 4.6 to 1 meaning I should get my stake back + winnings which would normally be $1150 + $250.

I'm a bit bummed that every time I looked at odds on the site that they are actually total payout multipliers.

Are you allowed to advertise these numbers as "Odds"?

I guess you have to subtract 1 every time if you want to look at it the way most betting places show.

    4.6 = 3.6 to 1

No, your reasoning is incorrect, sorry. If you placed a bet of 2 to 1, you would come out of it doubling your money, not tripling it. ie you don't get back twice your bet in winnings, and then your initial bet on top of that.

      • No - my reasoning is fine.

If odds are displayed as fractional odds then my reasoning is sound.

Sportsbet is displaying it as decimal odds.

    • Which site did you bet on?

      • sportsbet.com.au

        • Yeah, then it's decimal odds.

I actually prefer this over others as then it is easier to calculate multis

  • You can see the fractional odds as well as the decimal odds at Betfair, which, if you intend to win, is where you probably should be- the corporate bookies will shut up shop after one good (day!) week on the punt. Just hold the cursor over the decimal odds price and it will show the odds fractionally.

  • In the old days, you got back your original bet + the winnings (i.e. if you put $10 on 2:1 you got back $30), but these days your stake is calculated is part of the odds, so $10 on 2:1 you get back $20.

One thing to watch out with Sportsbet. I created a special email address which I gave to then & I started get lots of spam sent to it (not Sportsbet emails) I ditch them because if my email address isn't secure with them, I don't trust my credit card/bank account details with them either. I called & emailed them about it, but they refused to say how this happened.
