Need a Single mattress + base under $500 ASAP - Please help

Hi,
I'm in need of a new single bed (non pillow top) & base within the next week, as my current bed/base is sagging and painful to sleep on. Sadly I dont have much money atm so need something way under $500 for both.
Something that will hopefully last atleast 5 years.

My focus is on the mattress first,then a base (wood?) with whats left over.
I have a bad back,so I'm quessing a medium would be best?

I have been to Fantasic Furniture (del charge over the top) and will check out FW,bedshed and IKEA.
I live in Vic/East subs. I'm abit over 100kg.

I would love a ergoflex mattress,but cant really afford it.
Any shops in Vic that have ergoflex on the floor to try out?
It seems a few people are not happy with the Sealy brand (from reading on whilpool).

So I'm looking for advice on stores or online shops and about any sales (EOFY,etc) that I may have missed.
Beds On Line looks good,any feedback dealing with them?

Thanks for taking the time to read my long post and I look forward to any advice.

    I was just looking at those on Deals Direct earlier today. Maybe this will help. Deals Direct has cheap mattresses and bed frames, plus you get 4% cashback if you make your purchase using Qwibble. Or you can try using welcome10 or comeback10 for 10% off if you can (but no longer eligible for cashback via Qwibble).

    Bed frames for $89.95 (+delivery):
    Lawson Single Bed with Rubberwood Posts
    Juliette Metal Single Bed with Rubberwood Posts

    Mattress for $109 (+delivery)
    Homea Guest Full Spring Mattress - Single Size

    Mattress with pillowtop $169 (+delivery)
    Homea Single Deluxe Latex Pillowtop Full Spring Mattress

    Or you can look through their store for others:
    * More bed frames
    * More single mattresses

  • Awesome reply,thank you for your effort. I will check these all out :)
    Thanks heaps

    If you have a back problem I would strongly advise against buying online, unless you're able to try them out elsewhere beforehand. This can be hard to do, though, as the same beds are not usually sold in different stores.

  • Hello all,

    I'm still looking, I should be able to spend around $750 all up.
    What are your opinions on a Pocket spring vs a Sealy's version of a Bonell type spring system?
    I been told a few times that a pocket spring would give me better support for my bad back than a Bonell type setup. Would you agree in your experience?

    I'm starting to short list now,but would like more feedback (good/bad).

    TIA

    Costco sells some sort of Sealy single mattress for under $400. Probably no base. I reckon you could try it and see, possibly with their return policy you could return it if unhappy…

  • IKEA currently has 20% off mattress sale if that helps
