Product
Canesten Hygiene Laundry Rinse

Break the cycle of cross-contamination and re-infection with Canesten Hygiene Rinse by adding it in your wash. People suffering from bacterial or fungal infections may deposit large quantities of bacteria or fungal spores in shared laundry. Such items include towels, bed linen and personal items, like socks and underwear.

Normal washing, especially at cold temperatures, may not completely remove the bacteria or fungal spores. This often leads to the bacteria and fungal spores being passed on to other garments, and ultimately re-infection or cross infection.

Canesten Hygiene Rinse can break the cycle of re-infection and cross infection by helping to eliminate fungal spores that can remain in your clean washing increasing the risk of re-infection. Canesten Hygiene Rinse leaves laundry hygienically clean to help to keep families healthy.

Going by the past deal, it can take 4-8 weeks to receive.

Enjoy your sample!

It's free, so that's good. Just so you know benzalkonium chloride creates microbial resistance. If something of yours is mouldy/needs disinfecting, you're better off soaking in Sodium Percarbonate (oxygenated bleach aka Laundry soaker/napisan - also very cheap) for the recommended time (and amounts) as per instructions. (As to prevent previously mentioned issue, which is a big problem around the world).

If you still wish to use this product, go to your pool section of a local retailer that sells pool chemicals, you'll find benzalkonium chloride at a strength of 100g/L (in various sizes, usually no less than 5L's for very cheap), this product above is the exact same thing except it's not as strong, just water it down 30% to equal 70g/L as per the strength of the Canesten product. You'll save yourself a lot of money. Use 50-55ml's at a time per wash to use it properly (this is the amount the self measurer uses as per the lid of the Canesten product at the shops)

    • Yeah. What he said.

Thanks for that information. Very helpful

Thanks. I use the Dettol version which I believe has the same active ingredient. I'll check out your suggestion as it could save me some money. These items are both regularly around $8 to $10 dollars at the super market and I often find my local Coles out of stock.

I've used this stuff. Just be aware that it has a truly - literally - nauseating smell. Go to great lengths to avoid even getting a whiff when you go to use it.

Barely has a smell for me… not even as bad as vinegar. Though I'm not you and as for anyone here YMMV.

If you're talking specifically about Canestan, and not the oxygenating alternatives, which tend to be fine - then, um, wow. That's one bamboozling olfactory sense you've got there!

    its mostly bleech.

  • This is a great product by the way, I ordered a sample anyway but if you ever pick up some athlete's foot from the gym or whatever, this product is essential to eliminate the damned stuff from your life. You treat your feet with tinea stuff but also wash your gear in this to kill the spores that dropped off your toes into your socks.

Gross, yes it is. However, it's the only way to get rid of it all :-)
