DotA has a steeper learning curve and more complex but arguably can be more rewarding.
LoL is much more forgiving and while it's easier to learn it still is hard to get amazing at it.
Both games have their merits, I play both and I think they're both great games just comes down to preference.

nah…the first 30 days is actually fun…then after that is plan boring..
mage exploit was fun, and profitable in the RMAH… took them about a month to fix it
Then people moved onto Tyriel farming and so forth. Wasn't tested properly considering real money was made in the AH. Then all the "balance" issues, lack of pvp.

Cos not many ppl will move to OCE, end up you'll have to wait for half an hour before the server finds enough players for you. The Ziggs, Pool Party Ziggs and 100% IP and XP boost are attractive, but it's nothing when you can't play.
Im just hoping that all the skilled players jump ship for the better ping so I get less bads in ranked matchs

There are a decent amount of people that have moved smurfs/mains over. The "LOLA" chatroom right now actually has 144 people in it and so far I don't think anyone has complained about queue times except for maybe the first hour when people started logging on.
Except that in the first weekend more than 40k accounts moved across, Q times are less than 60 seconds, and double IP / XP boost is pretty solid.
Ya all would wanna go back after spending 20 minutes in a queue waiting for a game and realise hardly anyone else is online..
Should play Dota2 instead. No hero pool rotation since it's completely free (barring cosmetics) and you're free to choose what server you want to play on.

Agree with previous posters. Better off playing Dota2 instead. No need to grind out/pay for runes or heroes, you get all heroes with the game. Better graphics (imo). Play any server you want if you can deal with the latency.
Among other things, you don't lose all your friends from the rest of the world since you can play in any server.
Speaking of which in Dota 2, if I select Single Draft & Random Draft and play only in Australia for solo queue, I can get a match in <10 minutes on average…so considering how much more popular LoL is, if most Aussies actually do switch, I don't think it should be that bad.
10 mins? LOL queues on NA server for me are instant. I guess that happens when there are over 40 million accounts.
If you're a noob to MOBAs, DOTA2 will be a lot harder to learn.
I think I'll stay on NA for now.

Player of League for 3 and a half years here. Have 5k+ games played.
Transfer your characters, the change is phenomenal. I'm on a level 23 alt queueing with friends, no longer than a 30 second queue.
We're playing with OCEANIA players, not just Australians. A lot of SEA and NZ players play all day :)

Wow how about we just let go of the whole f***ing comparison between LoL and DotA. While I prefer LoL, I do agree that DotA is much better I'm regards to champion selection/roster etc. Sick to death of you monkeys being so biased all the time, you're just as bad as the console vs PC crew. Just play what you enjoy and stop being a bloody critic

This is the first instance I've seen of a developer starting their own servers in AU… it's normally up to independent ISPs to set up their own servers, because we're too far away for them, and not big enough to matter.
This is a huge step forward, and I have to commend Riot for doing this.
HoN and DOTA2 have had Aus servers for a while now

just put one of my smurfs to OC server, i must say the ping is amazing i normally play on 155-160 ping, now i'm playing on 15-20 ping, its a great improvement

Transferred, ping is amazing, Queue time is ~50 seconds for a game (Even with a smurf account at low levels).
All the talk about long Q-times are bullshit pretty much.
My NA pings were about 203ms.
My ping to Oceanic server is 136ms, from Melbourne. Server is located in Sydney. Doesn't seem right. I only save 70ms going to Sydney instead of North America accross the Atlantic? Good thing I only transfered a low level account to test it first. I'm keeping my main account on NA.
There would be something wrong with your connection, you should be getting somewhere between 25-50 from Melbourne. Tried contacting your ISP?
Why would there be something wrong with my ISP when the same ISP is giving me 203 ms across the Atlantic (which sounds about right)? I think it's the server.
