  After seeing this week's 4 Corners episode, I am not sure I want to buy from Rivers until it discloses its suppliers and signs up to the Bangladesh Safety Accord.

  SARAH FERGUSON: Rivers is a privately owned company with 150 stores and an on line business in Australia. They take lack of transparency to a new low. Rivers refused to comment on their relationship with Eve Dress shirts. Their only communication after weeks of trying was a single email.

      Just clicked to post the above, and to suggest that anybody who missed the episode indeed catch a repeat - on News 24, or as per the link above, via the ABC website.
      Disturbing stuff - but needs to be seen.

    A valid reason for boycotting them, however in-store or identical items for most everything linked above (the mens & womens shirts, pants, jackets and coats) are made in China.
    But their plain/normal style cotton women's tshirts are made in Bangladesh and there may be some linked above.

      I've seen pretty terrible sweat shop conditions in Chongqing, China. But no locked doors in the ones I saw.

      Conscience? I don't have the time for that. Outsourced mine to a little operation in India.

      4Corners is too long & boring! Caught all I needed to know from a few minutes of The Roast (ABC2 25/6). Summarised the issue with humour… we are more concerned about caged chickens than caged workers making clothes for stores like Rivers, Coles, Target, Kmart, etc. (Must cancel my order for those $4 T-shirts from Target!)
      Then had a promo for the boxed DVD set of these programs from 4Corners Everything You Do Is Wrong. I'm now going naked to protest my concerns.

  Until they start stocking sizes for us 'Larger than life' (or good health) blokes I'll have to stick to Target or Lowes. ;(
