Cheap Sound System

I'm planning on moving in about 18 months so don't want to invest too much money (ideally sub $300) as I won't be taking it with me but would like better sound than what's currently coming out of my projector.

I'm thinking my best option is probably a 2nd hand system from gumtree (any other sites in Perth for local pick-up?)

Was also looking into sound bars, no idea if they are any good though?

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

    You'd probably get better value buying second hand but what about something like the Australian made Aktimate Micro speakers. They have an inbuilt DAC so you can use them with PC, there's a hinged flap that connects an ipod and are just under $300 on eBay.
    I have a (Ferrari Red) pair that i use with a desktop PC and i'm very happy with the sound. They'd have decent resale value if you're not planning on keeping them.
    Soundbars are ok if you're spending decent money but $300 would buy you junk IMHO.

    Set of 2.1 Computer speakers..
    Even the cheap sets put out decent sound and require minimal technical knowledge to set up.

      Yes, probably get a whole set for $90 new, and then you can just dump them when you leave.
