Product Description

It includes the following amplifier from what I can tell …

I'm not sure on the quality of the speakers.

The 375 amplifier model is on sale for $296

Comparison between the two amplifiers:

essentially, extra HDMI, and networking / airplay.

Not sure if Harveys / JB stocks this.. but could be good to try and haggle and beat the $598 price

  • meh.

  • The details on http://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/hometheater-sy… mention absolutely nothing about the speakers, arguably the most important part of any HT system. That makes me think they are not worth mentioning.
Better off getting a separate receiver and some nice speakers from Amazon US.

  • I've just gone with the following:
    Wharfedale DX1 $588 delivered
Pioneer VSX827 $546 pickup but planning to sell the BDP150 on ebay as just don't need it, might get $50 back.

The DX1 seem to get great reviews for the price / size (which were both important to me, don't have space in cabinet for big speakers).

The VSX827 had the features I needed (network player, airplay, 5 HDMI inputs) and reasonable reviews. I couldn't find anything else with the features that would beat it under $500.

Admittedly does come to $1134 so is double the OP…

Given the uncertainty of the speakers might be a better deal to go with this instead - RXV473 and DX1 for $899 delivered - I would have except only 4 HDMI in and couldn't get a clear consensus on whether Yamaha or Pioneer was better and at least I am a bit more familiar with the Pioneer.
