  • Ouch, I am 1 min late, +1 nevertheless.

The free Torchlight got me to make a GoG account. I'm happy though :)

  • +2

free 9 games for making an account… not too bad

    • 10 actually, or well I got 10, excluding Torchlight.

    • +3

All of these games are always free, with the exception of torch light.

    • They've also had some other games free from time to time; I picked up the original Fallout ages ago when I first created an account.

  • -2

title should say 11 free games on account sign up, that will rack up the votes

    • +1

GOG has always been giving away those games though, it's only Torchlight that's exclusive to this sale :)

  • I got 11 Games including Torchlight. Thanks OP.

Alan Wake is brilliant! Playing through it now, at night it can actually make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Well worth it!

Makes you see just how damn cheap PC gaming is compared to consoles. Love it.

    • +2

i went through 3 fatal frames and silent hills before hitting alan wake, suffice to say I was immune to the scares :D

      • You're a braver person then I am :P

        • haha yeah, most peeps thought I was crazy when I said I watched the original Ju-on alone with the lights off and headphones on :p

      • Alan Wake isn't comparable to those. Those were horror games. They took control of the camera to scare you further and gave you scripted camera angles to make it even scarier. AW doesn't do that.

I didn't think Alan Wake was that good, but 2 games for $4.50 is a great deal.

      • I even got fatal frame for the wii again just to see what it was like. Hehehehe. Of course the wife won't let me play it when she's around. LOL.

    • I'll say the first Alan wake is really good - properly creeps you out and stuff. For me though it just got worse the more I played. The scares didn't change all that much through 1, and you got more powerful as you progressed, so the enemies didn't seem that intimidating. The DLC's were fun, but again less scary than the main game.

American Nightmare just sucked. Maybe because I played it on the 'normal' difficulty, but it was just super easy, super repetitive and not scary at all. The first game was a reasonable 3rd person adventure with some quality scary stuff, so it was a good game. The second takes away all the scary and the gameplay is no better, so it's pretty balls.

This is a decent deal, but only for the first game.

  • free decent game :).

  • yay finally have torchlight!!!

  • I'll probably never have the time to play them, but thank you none the less.

  • Do you need to install some downloader/manager (similar to steam) to play?

    • +3

Nope, once you have an account all of your purchases can be managed and their install files downloaded through your game shelf on the site. Once a game is downloaded you can use the installer over and over again, or if you lose the installer then you can re-download it as many times as you like.

GOG does offer a download manager which is helpful when downloading larger games but it is not mandatory.

      • Thanks.

      • how about updating?do I have to download the huge file all over again? say Witcher 2

  • If any of those classic titles ever got sold with DRM I'd kill someone.

    Thanks OP

  • If anyone has any recommendations for games, please feel free to post them. I might wait until the last day of the sale in case any come up as super discounted. Looks like I already have all the games from the D&D pack :)

    • A bigger discount than 80%?

Other than free, don't expect GoG.com to sell games a lower price than that.

Arcanum is a good RPG, since you seem to have RPGs.

      • +1

        Bought Arcanum on your recommendation
You owe me $2.49 if it sux :)

  • Used to be a huge AD&D fan played all their turn based RPG games back in the early 90's, and all these D&D titles are all too new for me :) Looks like I will be having a few busy weeks…

    Thanks!

  • +1

Yay, I was so close to buying Neverwinter Nights 2 bundle for the Baldur's Gate mod yesterday and now its half price!

    • 50,000 downloads just over 150 endorsements. Either it is not that great, or they are too busy playing to endorse.

      Though I love the sounds.

      • +1

I'm not sure the normal usage of Mods but it could be because it was only released 2 weeks ago, I downloaded them both at work today so once I get home and give it a shot I'll comment!

  • If you have a joystick on your computer, get Privateer. In fact, if you don't, get it then go order a joystick.

    • I absolutely loved Privateer.

That being said, my son started playing Galaxy on Fire 2 on the iPad and he was talking so much about it that I got it for the PC on one of the amazon bundles (I wanted Strike Suit Zero anyway)

I'm playing it now, and I've been hooked for at least six hours now. It has a very addictive quality to it.

    • Wasn't privateer the bug riddled one that was made by just one guy? And when consumers complained about the bugs, he just openly swore at them and never bothered to fix the bugs?

Edit: No, I'm wrong. Privateer is a wing commander game. There was a space game in the 90's like I described but not sure what it was.

      • Battlecruiser 3000AD?

  • +4

AUGH, these friggin gog sales, get me every time.
I'm starting to lose track of which games I have across physical boxed, gog, steam & indie bundles. There's some games I've accidentally bought 3 times = =

    • This is what is confusing me now.

I found 2 humble bundles from ages ago that I hadn't added to my steam account.

I'd bought some of the games in another bundle :S

And then I added them to steam, but you don't get the achievements from non-steam games.

But now I don't play them anyway because Steam isn't for playing games anymore.

  • Damn it, missed by literally a minute.

Was free, and when I logged in, it was back to $7.49

    • Add to cart and it's free =)

    • nvm beaten

  • Torchlight for free! Can't complain!

  • +2

I really like gog! With gog it is easier, safer and faster to buy an old game than to pirate it! Props to them.

    • +2

Exactly how it should be! Paying customers should be treated the best, not restricted with DRM or region restrictions/price gouging. GOG certainly set a high bar for moral standards :)

  • All hail GOG

  • The D&D Bundle is fantastic, but I think the pick from that bundle is Planescape Torment; combat and graphics are crap, but the story is one of a kind. No other game has come close for me in terms of character growth, diversity and originality.

A lot of text though. THe game isn;t for everyone, but if you put game story before everything else, give it a shot.

  • if I buy witcher 2, will they also give me a steam key? I know this one has no DRM and all but I prefer getting automatic updates and easier access to community stuff

    • Unfortunately not, and as weird as it sounds for once the lack of DRM (Steam) is making me hesitate to buy it…

      • yeah same here, because the DRM in Steam is not that uptight, can play in offline mode, automatic updates, and with the new RedKit, who know what the community will upload to steam workshop. But I do Love CD Projekt Red, they are the best developers!

  • Hello childhood!

  • Day 2 sales are up, looks like my OP has already been edited so take a look at what is on offer. Seems new daily deals come up sometime overnight (around 11pm?) so make sure that if you like the look of something you purchase it before you go to bed!

  • Day 3 sales are up.

    • Might & Magic 1-9 for USD$8.45 :)

      • Wouldn't it be more accurate to say it's 10 games, rather than 5?

        • That's the description on GOG's page, as M&M 1-6 are bundled in one single pack.

  • The Arma recruitment pack is great value at under $14 - Arma 1 complete, Arma 2 Combined Ops & Operation Flashpoint Gold.

    Hurry since it expires today.

Omerta with 3 DLC is $10.

      Decision decision!
