Walking Treadmill ~$250

Hello,

After a basic treadmill that will be mostly used for light walking (medium pace at best). I know going for something this cheap will mean a compromise in quality. I am ok with that. I just need something to last me the year.

I have looked at gumtree and ebay so far and have found some great used models. However, I do not have a large enough car to transport it and most people don't seem to want to deliver understandably.

So, I have resorted to new treadmills either in a transportable box or better yet delivered to my house.

Here is one I have found and would love some feedback on with the brand etc:

All other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

If you want to get it from a brick and mortar store, how about this ($278) from BigW?

http://www.lifespanfitness.com.au/BOOM-Treadmill?sc=114&cateā€¦ this could be a good option. It is a little bit more powerful than the one you found in ebay and their warranty is excellent.

    • Thanks, that actually looks like a solid treadmill for only a little bit extra $. Plus 2 years warranty on the motor is nice.

I have been after a treadmill for some months now.
I know now, the one cheap to buy will be the most expensive one.
Cheap ones is not easy to use (very narrow band, or mechanical inclines, slow and or poor motor). If everything is OK you will end up storing rest of your life, because nobody will buy cheap second hand ones.
I suggest 40cm wide, and 130cm or more band size is important, so you can walk or run easy.
Engine 2.0 or more, weight is suitable for you, or 120kg or more. And needs to be a bit heavy, so it will be stable if you are running on the treadmill.

The other facilities are good but not essential in my view (mp3, fan, bottle holder etc).

    • Thanks for the advice. I have noticed that these cheaper treadmills have about 30cm belt width. Thinking about it more, it definitely seems like it won't be that comfortable.

I am liking the Lifespan BOOM treadmill since it has a better 35cm belt width. But we'll have to see.

I'd be careful about buying from BigW for these sort of things. I bought an exercise bike from Kmart some time ago and the bearings started playing up, out of warranty of course. My husband tried everywhere to get a replacement bearing. Someone on Ebay from Sydney sold similar sized bearings for bikes. So we contacted him to ask did he have our size. His reply was, "No, and if you bought the bike from BigW or Kmart you won't be able to source them." Very interesting, we thought. So we now steer clear of these places. Made cheaply for a cheap price and not to last.

    • Yeah, I read that post somewhere on here/whirlpool. I am leaning towards the Lifespan at the moment due to their longer warranty. Will not be getting the Big W one for sure. Would rather spend a bit more or just walk outside!

Hopefully I can find a decent treadmill used where I can arrange some sort of pick up/delivery service or get a mate who has a ute to help me :-)

In regards to being unable to take the treadmill home have you considered using a courier? I have done this in the past for items on gumtree that i wasnt able to transport myself..If its local (under 10k's or so) you could get it done for under $50

    eg: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-removals-storage/c18643

I am not recommending this item, or the site - because I don't even know how I started receiving their advertising. (I don't know if I signed up, or if it's spam.) But anyway… I noticed this because I remembered seeing your request.

    So FWIW, here it is:
