  • Good?

    • Yup! Power consumption is kinda high though and definitely suited for multitasking ppl who don't want a 2nd display. Dunno about gaming but I suspect it'd be limited for res support

      • only if you use the dell soundbar..

  • Bit of a weird aspect ratio but seems a good price. I have a u2711 monitor and am very happy with it.

  • +2

Its not weird I got it last year paired with a gtx 670 in bf3 you can see everything ! Better FOV than most other single monitor's out there.

  • Is it also ultraflat? hehe

  • -2

i dont know if 60hz is enough for games these days.otherwise it looks pretty damn good.

    • +1

      2560 x 1080 > 120hz.

    • These can do 75 Hz.

  • -3

It says optimal resolution is 1080, I assume you can go higher?

    • Nope, only lower.

    • +2

      2560 x 1080

    • Did we not interpret this to mean 2560x1080…?

  • What about webpages which are usually low res
Wouldn't it be annoying or is there a browser that re renders the page?

  • Thoughts on mounting these either side of a 30'? (699mm vs 689mm)

  • +1

    I want one so bad.
I just can't part with the money :'(

  • Bought one as 2nd monitor and it is the best.

    Connector is DVI PC Display
    Resolution: - 2560 x 1080 (Native)
    Refresh rate: - 60Hz
    Color Depth - Highest (32-bit)

    I'm trying to decide between this or a catleap 27" 2560x1440 @120hz.

    • do you have a link to this monitor?

      • Usually from ebay.

Some have the unique ability of being able to run at 100hz.

wasn't it the older ones that could run at 100z with a software tweak? i haven't looked at these in a while.

I just grabbed a 30" Korean monitor for $600, so happy with the purchase - even changing from using my 120hz TN monitor I barely notice. Gaming is deluxe!

        • Yeah, you're right. Though I believe the qnix evolution ii ones currently sell for around 300 and can overclock to around 100hz

      • Ocau thread discussing the Korean brands using these panels, http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1019700

  • Anyone knows if this monitor is good for gaming ?

    • +1

I'm using this as a main monitor for my gaming laptop I'm pretty happy with it I've tried it with
      Dota 2
      NBA 2K13
      BF3
      Sleeping Dogs
and they make use of the extra resolution.

      • +1

the "ultra-wide" resolution doesn't mess up your ingame display ?

      • Does it show more? If so this would be a pretty big advantage in dota 2 and bf3.

        • Yeah in those games it does, I was surprised it worked in dota2.

I tried playing Star Craft 2 last night and it doesn't support 2560 x 1080. After reading forums seems like it would be too much of an advantage.

    • Very good for gaming ~! Love it. never had better experience than this one (compared to what I previously owned. Dell 2405, 2407,2408, 2412m, 2711,3011U) Now I am using this with another U2410. all good.`!

  • Just ordered 2.

  • +1

wont games look weird (stretched) on this monitor??

    • +2

Only if you don't run them at your native resolution, most of them should adjust the fov automatically.

  • One use of those 21:9 monitors - watching two 80/90s TV side by side at the same time!

Seriously a good price for someone just wants to connect one monitor.

  • What happens with older games that don't support this wide resolution, will they have black vertical bars either side?

    • +2

http://www.wsgf.org has tweaks for getting widescreen support out of older games.

      • Cheers nice find.

  • I ordered the 30 inch Dell 3014, I was supposed to receive it last Friday according to the receipt I got. But when I entered my order details, the estimated date was shifted to 24 June! So I called Dell and they told me there was a parts shortage and at the latest I'd receive my monitor by this Thursday. I hope that's the case.

Also I received a somewhat rude call from the Dell verification centre asking me if I was working or studying in Australia; I had the wisdom to ask what item I bought fortunately to make sure it wasn't a scammer. But is my working/studying status relevant at all? It's still a bit fishy.

  • MY Viewsonic 28" has issues with power saving and so i was looking at buying a new monitor preferrably larger or the same size, but all the 30" i found seemed to be around 900$+, i presume this deal is my best bet yet?

  • I've never used an LED TV as a PC screen, do they work ok?
    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/soniq/48-inch-ful…
    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/samsung/32-inch-h…
or is this 29" far superior for gaming/photoshop/office?

  • what currency does dell use? Is it AUD if it recognises its a aussie purchaser?

    • I presume its AUD, as i realised there is a Dell Australia as well. Do they use Aussie Post or a courier? Aussie post is so much easier for me if i want it sent home. If its courier i gotta get it sent to work.

  • Hmm, its giving me the option to put in my NRMA membership no. which i dont have on me right now. Is there any advantages to putting it in?

    • I don't think it will have any advantages as you usually won't get a discount on top of already discounted/sale prices.
(Edit: Just realised you posted that 18+hrs ago! :P)

  • Would this be any good for casual work on Ubuntu.
    Serious question.
