Mentoo Scam??

I naively ordered a dual sim android phone from www.mentoo.com a week or so ago. Refer below for 2 of the deals recently listed on here:

The worrying thing now is that www.mentoo.com no longer exists, however www.menpoo.com has appeared and looks EXACTLY the same.

Did anyone else order anything from this site? If so have they received the item yet, or are you as worried as me? The saving grace for me is that I paid via PayPal, however I'm yet to go through a claim process. Would the site no longer existing be sufficient grounds to make a claim ? Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

    there was a mention that mentoo was a scam in a previous post that was removed.

    If you do a whois search you'll find that it's owned by HICHINA ZHICHENG TECHNOLOGY LTD

    if you google that, you'll find some links saying that it's a scam

      HICHINA ZHICHENG TECHNOLOGY LTD is actually a Chinese registrar in Beijing, i.e. HiChina.com and Net.cn (part of Alibaba).

      Yes they do what? Exist? Seems very strange a business would just shut down their website, corresponding paypal account and associated email addresses…

        menpoo looks weird. like the prices for some of the 9-9.7" tablets e.g. was $809.97 now $269.99 for an Onda tab.

        $809?!?!? what's an ipad 4 go for? or galaxy tablet?

    oh yeah, and last comment is interesting from that post -

    i told my friend to get this phone, the band selection isnt an issue as he moves around metro areas.

    HOWEVER #WARNING# the seller should make it clear this is pre-order, and they dont have the phone in stock and wont for some weeks yet !!!!

    does anyone know how long my friend will be covered by paypal buyer protection incase the seller doesnt deliver ?

    You're crazy if you don't make a claim straight away. As it is, they've probably already cleaned out the account, meaning it might be difficult to obtain a refund any time soon. After you've claimed, I'd escalate straight away. Don't bother giving them 3 weeks (or whatever the time frame is) to respond. You don't have to do so, and it would serve no purpose other than giving them extra time to close (or clean out) the account.

    Yeah get a claim in mate I held on due to a delay in the production of this phone and now paypal won't touch it as its passed the 45 day period. Don't know if you've had the email from mentoo or menpoo saying that they will send out the phones or an equivalent within 30 days but I had one tonight mainly as their paypal account has been frozen.
