I've kept the receipt so if they break within a week, it'll be refund time :)
I'll just say they aren't of merchantable quality, not fit for purpose etc and refer them to the Australian Consumer Law. I did that with one of those handheld grip weeders I bought for $3 a while back. One of the prongs bent 90 degrees the first time I used it. The refunds chicks just said, yeah ok whatever, here's your refund.

I've never had a problem getting a refund from Kmart…

If the companies store policy states they will refund an item within a certain amount of time this is their agreement with their customer once the sale is made.

Nice work OP. I once bought BETA dress shoes from some cheap shoe shop that looked just like that some years back, and they were the best shoes I ever bought, seriously. They lasted about 2 years and I walked ALOT considering I didn't have a car at the time, and over rugged terrain as I worked in a new developed area. I have fond memories of those shoes lol. I bought the same brand again after the originals broke, however they lasted about a month before coming apart… wtf?? Not sure why I got such awesome shoes that first time. Cool story!
Are you sure they weren't BATA shoes the first time around, and then you got some knockoff BETA shoes after that??
Bata shoes are rubbish anyway. I had a pair of steel cap boots. Within hours the sole had crapped itself and was melting under my weight. Wrote a letter to bata and they claimed that it was too old. Needless to say i will never buy another pair of bata shoes again.
I had a pair of these. Inner sole is stuffed after one dinner party and a walk back through the city.
