  • How does this compare to the extreme?

    • Based on Sandisk Official Data Sheet

      Extreme SSD
Sequential Read (up to) 550 MB/s
Sequential Write (up to) 510 MB/s

      Ultra Plus SSD
Sequential Read (up to) 530 MB/s
Sequential Write (up to) 445 MB/s (256GB version)

Light workload performance is close to Extreme.
Medium to Heavy workload, the performance is generally below average (compared to other drives). The 4K write result is especially weak. But, it is the read that matters the most. The 4K read is generally okay. The 256GB drive does well in benchmark tests, but in real life app tests, it is normally the slowest, compared to other 256GB SSDs. Generally, it is the real life apps and windows startup tests which matter more than those benchmark tests. Not a good sign compared to Extreme (which does well in real life apps tests).

What this means is that, it is fine for general use, but if you intend to run server software on it, you should look elsewhere. It is 7mm thick so it is one of the thinner SSDs out there.

For 128GB SSD, the MSY deal before (Plextor) was a better buy ($10 cheaper) and with 128GB SSDs, you cannot expect top notch performance anyway (compared to 256GB). The 256GB SSD price is good though.

  • "It's only $1.95 Shipping storewide* @ ShoppignSquare.com.au today."

    Typo on ShoppingSquare.com.au

    • thanks, revised

  • I don't know how reliable this new chipset is. It's not based on existing chipsets, it's new. At least the extreme has had time to prove itself already. You're taking a risk every time you buy a new chipset.

I think I'd prefer to stick with the Extreme.

  • hi, if you buy 2 items, how come shipping is twice as well?? couldn't these be considered as combined shipping specially for the micro-sd cards, surely the combined weight of 2 cards should not make a difference. Thanks.

    • The Shipping for the 1st item $1.95, and Only $0.98 Shipping for each additional unit. So, Shipping for 2 items should be $2.93. If you get this amount of shipping fee the 2 items in your shopping cart, that's correct.

  • Hi danilochan, I have claimed for my 32GB MicroSD warranty, and haven't heard from your customer support/return department after about 6 weeks now. Could you please help me to follow up?

        Claim resolved… thanks Dan!

  • ordered..!! hope to get it soon…!!

  • price shows as $169.95 on the 256gb?

    • There was an error, and it's fixed now. The correct price for 256GB SSD is $159.95 + $1.95 Shipping as title.

      Thanks

  • My PC will be way quieter right? Or does more noise come from the CPU fan and casing?

    • Noise normally comes from CPU fan, graphics card fan (if you have a graphics card with a fan) and case fan. Unless you have a dodgy hard drive which generates constant high pitch noise.

    • it will most likely stop the slight hard drive whine and clicking and reduce the fan noise a bit due to the heat reduction in your computer. it will be quieter but most likely the main sound comes from the fans.

  • Has anyone ordered 256GB as $159.95. Price shows as $169.95
    Thanks

    • It's fixed

      • That's unfortunate :( I just paid $169

  • How long is the warranty on the SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD 256GB?

On the ShoppingSquare page it says three-year limited warranty and then below it says 1-year warranty in Australia

      • 3 Year Warranty provided by Manufacture in Australia

we updated the listing information, thanks.

    • Price matched, please send a PM to me with your order number and customer ID, I will put the different as store credit for you.

    • Great to see some good competition here on OzBargain.
I would suggest people review the previous deals from these two companies to determine the best place to purchase the SSD from.

  • …Another bargain for sandisk SSD,
Good, I can redeem my points got from last purchasing for an ipad 3.

    Nice.

  • Let me get one thing straight, another thread mention that this ssd has compatibility issues with Thinkpads?
But the dimensions are exactly the same as the current hdd installed in my Lenovo Thinkpad e530?
    What's up with this?

    • +1

its not the physical size that is the issue. I believe the isuse is that some Thinkpads have a limited SATA compatibility. From what I remember, the issue was fixed in a fw update over a year ago. You may (or may not) want to take the risk on finding out for yourself.

      • Thank you for your advice :), so do you reckon its worth trying?
Wonder if they would give a refund if it doesn't work?
