Been thinking about buying a vaporizer from chemist warehouse for the bedroom. Does anyone have any experience with these? How effective are they? Cant seem to find any other place that sells these units other than Chemist Warehouse
thanks
Room Vaporizer

I'm using the eukybear one for my one year old and it seems to be working fine. I agree with ssx, seems to help with colds during winter time. I try and make sure I open up the windows the next morning to let the room air out in the day (yes it's a PITA when you're trying to keep the house warm, but generally an hour in the day seems to dry it out and i wipe the window sill down if there's a lot of water there.
I think the vapour is strong enough with the amount eukybear specify, but I don't think it would be an issue if you doubled the amount to make the vapour stronger.
Can't quite remember but I think we bought ours from priceline for around $60. Also you ight want to make sure it switches off automatically when there's no more water left in the machine.
I was also lent a hippo one and I found it was a pain to use because it had a little water overflow unit that used to overflow over the machine within about an hour of switching it on, so I'd stay away from them - but they may have put out better models now…
I used a vaporiser while my son was growing up. We just used a couple of drops of Eucalyptus instead of Vicks etc because we didn't have the money to buy anything else. IMO it was the steam that helped his breathing. I don't like the smell of Eucalyptus so I use Peppermint oil when I get a cold.
I used the vaporizer on the top of a table on a few occasions and it made the paint on the ceiling bubble. It is important to dry the room, as mentioned above, because black mould is extremely bad for your health.
We use a Vicks vaporiser and found it makes an amazing difference in the winter, especially for our 2yr old.
The only drawback (for us anyway) is that it creates a monumental amount of mould.
But if the air is very dry in your bedroom, someone has the sniffles or is coughing, it really helps.
The Vicks vapour liquid is expensive, I think it's about $6 for a small bottle. I've tried the cheaper Eukybear (sp?) stuff, but it's not as strong as Vicks.
