This is a great introduction to superfoods:

Yep. Shame on you OP for selling this bullshit - the science is very clear on this stuff.

      • +1

        what you mean?

        • lol…I dont trust the marketing, even the video itself saying superfood do have their benefits just not worth that much due to hyped up marketing. Goji for example, Chinese have been using it for part of their herb medicines for thousands of years. I am not going to disapprove that. Reishi mushroom also been used in Japan as their early stage cancer treatment too.

Just dont buy into marketing too much. Dont forget, while superfood research is funded by their suppliers, the other researches are funded by pharmaceuticals which spent great amount of money to prevent the failure of their marketing.

        • why would you neg this blokes deal, which is a freebie anyway? nothing wrong with the deal itself, even if you reckon the product is dodge. its FREE.

          sheesh.

and OP - yes, there are people like this on ozbargain, unfortunately… :/

        • nothing wrong with the deal itself

The OP is stating in the title of this deal that this is a SuperFood. Then justifies the advertisers dodgie claims by linking to dodgie promotion based on dodgie research.

If the OP had simply said there was a FREE sample of berries, I think everyone would have been happy.

        • and OP - yes, there are people like this on ozbargain, unfortunately… :/

Glad there are OBers who look a little deeper than bullshit advertisers get away with.

But when people start regurgitating advertising as fact, back it up by dodgie claims … negs can be expected.

  • if not a + for the product itself, then definitely to OP for posting another bargain and not having to like FB !

Superfoods, yet one more scam we can do without. The research is quite clear.
    Google is your friend:

Yes you are true about 'Google is our friend' see below:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superfood

      11 berries, improve your health

      guide-to-superfoods-blueberries

If 11 berries can improve your health,
Not to buy, but why we just don't try a free sample with Acai Berry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Raspberry, Goji Berry, & Cranberry?

      • Most fruit can improve your health for far less cost, with no marketing in magazines, etc. Choice said eating an apple was as good as antioxidant supplements.

Only those making money out of them would hype them "Superfoods".

        • Never want to promote 'Nutra-Organics' but an opportunity get a free food sample with 6 berries.

        • But you did promote this deal as Superfood & justified that claim, rather than simply change the title correctly to free berries!!

    • +2

      The research is quite clear.

      You reckon?
Only two foods contained in this product mentioned in your link http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/food-and-health/f…

Consumed either raw or as a juice, acai has up to four times more antioxidants than non-berry fruits and 10 times more than vegetables. Laboratory studies have found acai demonstrates cholesterol-lowering capabilities, as well as anticancer and anti-inflammatory activity.
there is no definitive scientific evidence based on studies in humans to support the use of acai for a specific health-related purpose.

goji berries are high in antioxidants, particularly a carotenoid that may be associated with reducing the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
but there are no large quality trials demonstrating that it works.

Lack of evidence does not necessarily mean lack of effectiveness.

Your second link is irrelevant, as they are not claiming that acai can reduce weight.

I'm not great believer in 'superfoods' either…. but this is a freebie and not negworthy
Also, anything to get more fruit and veg into people has to be a good thing….

      (from 2007)

The proportion of children surveyed meeting the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating recommendations for vegetable intake
      was:

          22% of 4-8 year olds
          14% of 9-13 year olds
          5% of 14-16 year olds

The proportion of children surveyed meeting the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating recommendations for fruit intake (excluding fruit juice) was:

          61% of 4-8 year olds
          51% of 9-13 year olds
          1% of 14-16 year olds

      • I'm not great believer in 'superfoods' either…. but this is a freebie and not negworthy
Also, anything to get more fruit and veg into people has to be a good thing….

Thanks andy for your great explanation…

      • Lack of evidence does not necessarily mean lack of effectiveness

In that case, everything is effective. See?

lol @ menshealth and mnn used as credible scientific sources. regardless this is a legitimate deal despite what you may think of the product itself.

  • +3

I look forward to the day the law changes that these "super" benefits have to be "proven" not just implied or "maybe'd" to be sold with the product labelling as such

    This is such bullshit

(but it is a freebie, so all political comments aside, thanks OP !!)

    • i reckon
      its a freebie
why dont you guys go neg those junk food deals, or the coffee deals from nestle who provide milk powder to third world countries but are not good for them
or those who who produce items in terrible conditions etc

      • Who said they don't?
It was exposed so well on the Checkout - everyone who saw the program can't help themselves. It was great!

  • +1

just eat a healthy diet instead of wasting $$$ on "super berries" and you will get all the nutrients you need.

    • You don't want to waste any money to gate a free sample
