Free Peeler + $59 Deal for 9 Forever Sharp Knives. Kmart Firle, SA

61

A forever sharp rep was in Kmart at Firle. Listen to her 5 minute sales pitch and demo, and get a free item. For our demo, it was a peeler worth $10 RRP.

Also a special deal on the knives if you want them - $59 for two regular forever sharp knives, 2 paring knives, 3 gourmet knives, a filetting knife, and a few others.

Rep said she would be there all day, don't know how often the demos will start, though.

Guys don't waste your time on this, unless you want the Knifes.

I've received one of those, and it was the WORST peeler ever, in fact it doesn't even peel, it rips/tears.
The dullest blade I have is sharper than that.

Also that peeler is really worth $1… or maybe 50cents now.(yes exactly the same, at some Asian corner store)

Don't encourage her, think of the staff who have to listen to those announcements every half an hour.

  • it's a saw not a knife

The knives are great! The peeler is horrible. Though I had a peeler which looked the exact same and was really damn good. But the one from the demo is rubbish.

Really do consider the knives, I've had mine for years and still work great. I even bought a bunch of steak knives with the same design. The only issue I have is that they have crappy plastic handles…they start to look ugly after a couple of years. But the new knife set they are selling the handle is metal and it's built on with the knife.

I have the latest metal handle version from the Kmart promo. They look reasonable. But they are the worst knives I have ever owned. So bad, I am amazed some people actually like them. Should find the warranty card and try to get my money back.

      • I wasn't going to neg, but changed my mind to ensure others are warned. Latest knives are really bad and the "free" peeler looks like a good one but is useless.

Have one of these and found it a bit awkward for vegetable compared to our normal peeler. Very good though for cutting thin slices of cheese.

  • Best knife set I have ever owned.

    Got this a while back.

Do you have the plastic handle or metal handle? The positive review above mentions a plastic handle. It is possible that the old version was good but the latest version is rubbish.

      • i have the old second design black plastic handle ones (1st design was white handle). they are no match for my good (german carbon steel etc) cooks/santoku etc knives well maintained in terms of the pleasure and feel and finesse of use - but they will cut bloody ANYTHING without dulling or squashing

        • I have Trident Wusthof knives, Wiltshire knives and these hacksaws ;) I have a place for each of these knives.

          • for general purpose cutting, I use the Tridents - beautifully balanced, and maintain their sharpness for a long time. The balance and weight of them is useful for things like large pieces of meat etc.
          • for lightweight things (eg. fresh herbs), I find the lightweight Wiltshires perfect. They are also good for smaller pieces of chicken etc. because the light weight means I can move the knife with ease
          • for hard skinned or hard vegetables (eg. pumpkin, watermelon etc), the hacksaw (aka "foreversharp") is perfect. It cuts through anything "firm", easily. Avoid non-hard things like block cheese with these knives - it's painful.

I would highly recommend the old plastic handle versions, although the handle is CRAP ;)

Btw, I have owned more than a dozen types of peeler. There is one peeler that stands out in my mind - and that's this peeler - it's SO BAD that I can't imagine it being useful for anything, except removing skin from fingers … in ways you'd never expect. The peeler scores a negative 1 out of 10 (ie. -1/10).

      • I have the metal handle & the older black plastic handle.

They both cut the same imo

I bought these after seeing it in one of my cousin's place. But the quality is a lot different. The one in my cousin's place was strong and you cannot bend it. The new ones are just thin and arent strong at all.

The peeler was cutting my wife's hands instead of peeling. So, had to chuck it off too.

    Don't buy.

I'm giving this a positive as I just hope if this person is now hocking their wares at KMart, they'll leave my work place alone. Attention, attention.. Sigh.

  • i've had one of those peelers since a while back. no idea what these people are going on about it being blunt. my one is super super sharp

Maybe yours was a manufacturing defect ;)

  • i have one of the serrated knives, very thin blade, black plastic handle. Paid about 10 bucks a pop (bought 2-3). Great for cutting tomatoes, fresh bread, anything that is soft and squishy. Can't speak for the others though

  • I remember when a guy did this at Woolies, mom wanted one so she made me stand there and listen, then he refused to give me one because apparently I look too young to handle a peeler I'm 20 for goodness sake! T_T When we took it home to use, it broke as I went to peel a potato…

    • So he was right, you were too young to handle the awesome power of the peeler!
