I used to be a constant reader of HS online but after they got the subscription thing u were limited to 10 articles p/m.
However i found a way to bypass this and read any article with no need to create an account:
FOR CHROME USERS:
Go to heraldsun.com.au
if u want to read an article RIGHT CLICK ON THE TITLE
click on OPEN LINK IN INCOGNITO WINDOW
enjoy ;)
Their system is a hit and a miss how they track if you've read 10 articles or not.
Cause I used to get it a couple of weeks and go and now it's stopped bothering me. (and I know ive read more than 10)
Alternatively you can copy the article headline and paste into a google search, then click on the google link and you can read it. Not sure if there's a limit to how much you can use this method but works well enough for my needs.
Although now that The Guardian has commenced with their Australian edition, I find I'm reading a lot less of News Ltd and Fairfax now. Guardian doesn't have any paywall restrictions, plus their articles seem a lot better written!
Guardian's a lot better than anything we get in Australia.
Why anyone would want to read the vial trash in the Herald Scum is beyond me.
I figure these measures are there as a form of self censorship to stop people reading the content.

Another way to bypass these measures is to replace the 'heraldsun' in the URL of the article with news. As news.com.au doesn't have the paywall installed yet.
Works with the other news limited sites that use news+ as well.
you just need to clear the cookies for the site. i use the cookiekiller addon in firefox. clear the cookies for the news site then press reload. 3 clicks all up.
