such a bad promo compared to the ones they had in the us and uk… trying to get rid of old stock I guess?

also should add gotta buy between 20/06/2013 and 31/07/2013

kinda annoyed they added the dates..i still have my reciept from 2011 >.>

  • yeah read this and thought nintendo was making a big joke! they dont even state the T &C which stores. Most stores would have gotten rid of their 3ds by now with sales like DJ and DS

    • Stores are getting rid of the 3DS?

      What?

      • Yeah. With the 3DS XL out the original isn't exactly a hot item.

  • They really need to have an inclusion or exclusion list of participating authorised stores…

I think participating stores means any store with stock in AU.

So Australia finally gets a 3DS game promotion and I have to admit, it's pretty disappointing compared to what the US and UK got recently.

At least the list of games is pretty decent with recent titles like WeeGee's and Animal Crossing.

Compared to recent UK and US promotions, you just had to register the Club Nintendo code. So you could have bought games/consoles a while ago and register them later to take advantage of the promotions. UK had one where you just have to register an XL and got a game, and another where you register 3 games to get another (which is going on now). US had one where you register an XL and Luigi's Mansion.

Just seems like extra hassle to have to upload a receipt from specific retailers under specific conditions, but I guess it's still better than nothing for those who can take advantage of it!

Good. The 3ds XL looks plain terrible. I'm shocked there isn't a decent 3ds yet. I was laughing when I saw the 3ds xl on display - it was like there was a massive warning saying "Don't buy me!"

you must have never played a 3ds XL your entire life. Please come back when you tried it compare to the original 3ds

      • Agreed Letrico. XL is great, fixes build quality issues and is more comfortable to hold as well as having a massive screen.

  • Is it an australian law to request receipts for this kind of cashbacks and promotions? This reminds me of the Norton/WD cashbacks.

Otherwise I don't understand as it doesn't make much of a difference if you just register on club nintendo and it costs them extra manpower to go through the receipts.

  • the games arent as good as in the UK.

  • I still have my Club Nintendo code from my 3DS… just a pity that it was from the Dick Smith sales last year. =/

Think they'll accept some fancy photoshopping?

    • Hope so ;)

They did with the Ambassador promo.

      • Im hoping to do the same, ill find out soon enough when the redemption begins, what was the ambassador promo that they accepted?

        • I had two receipts for older 3DS's from EB and then Nintendo dropped the price on the 3DS and gave launch owners 10 older virtual console games for free to compensate the big price cut. I bought my youngest another 3DS at the cut price and fixed up a receipt to show that it had been bought a month or two earlier.

        • nice nice, guess we will find out in just over a week, ill post back my results. im hoping that it doesnt stay locked to a club nintendo account, but if it does you can just download it to your console and play it with any nintendo account on the system? from what ive read for the uk promo people just log in with another account and download, then log in with their main and still works fine?

        • Ive just downloaded Monster Hunter from the UK deal. Its just a code to use at the eShop. Also have Animal Crossing free from the So Many Games Promo :)

I'm going to let my kids get this one.

        • i know you have to log into the uk eShop to get the so many games promo to work, once downloaded you can just change back to the Aus store and works fine right? ive never seen them lock a free game code to a certain unit, im sure itl be fine.

        • Yep, that's right.

  • So, now this deal is "live" where is the cheapest place for 3DS? Since the 3DSXL came out I have only seen specials for the 3DSXL not 3DS.

hey guys, can any one post a receipt saying they bought it during the time period? I have a club nintendo card lying around, just curious to see if it would work. Thanks :)

You want someone to give up their free game for you?

  • I just contacted Nintendo Australia about this and they could not give a list of participating stores. I was told it was from the big stores like JB, Harvey Norman, Kmart etc, I assume they don't know and it probably means AU stock….but I'd hate to buy one from an online retailer selling AU stock only to be told by Nintendo it isn't valid. Has anyone bought one from a non "big retailer" and successfully downloaded their free game?
